What are your opinions on the remastered albums? I'll let you know what I think after I've had time to listen to them, but the tracks I've heard so far sound great. :)

I bought them all and have just had a chance to hear the first 2 tunes on the White Album...Back In The USSR and Dear Prudence. You can clearly hear each instrument...heard drums that I don't ever remember hearing...Paul's bass...piercing guitar licks...Wonder what I'll be doing this weekend in Hattiesburg, MS. Even better...its supposed to rain so no temptations to go poolside... 8-)

I haven't listened to any tracks of the pack, but I've heard a lot of really positive critics.
I'd love to buy the complete pack, but unfortunatly it is really expensive, and by now I can't =(

First off, I have to say the sound quality of the stereo remasters is brilliant. You can hear each individual instrument and the music has room to breathe. Truly exceptional.

However, I have some issues and queries.

For example, why in ‘From Me to You’ is the harmonica removed in the introduction?

This has something to do with the conversion from mono to stereo, I take?

Even so, I don’t like it being removed. It’s like a piece of history being deleted. That song starts with the harmonica. It’s just how it is.

And also, what’s up with ‘If I Fell’ being double tracked at the beginning? Is it that the remastering is so excellent it has unearthed this, or again, has it got to do with the mono/stereo conversion?

Are there any other differences/ omissions you have heard?

What do you think the deal is?

Again, I love the remasters, but as a Beatles nut, these things have been a weight on my mind.

There are extra harmonica parts on Thank You Girl that aren't on the original Past Masters version.

I think on the new remastered Past Masters CD they have used the version that was on the Capitol album "Beatles Second Album".

But you're right, the original Past Masters album didn't have the additional harmonica.

From Wikipedia:

The stereo mix of the song is noticeably different to the mono mix (which is the mix used on Past Masters, Volume One - the 1988 CD) in the middle 8, where a couple of extra harmonica lines can be heard, as well as at the very end of the song. This stereo mix was included in the Capitol release "The Beatles' Second Album". This same stereo mix is included on the 2009 reissue of Past Masters.
