John & Yoko - Unfinished Music Volume 2: Life With The Lions
Unfinished Music Volume 2: Life With The Lions was the 2nd album released by John & Yoko. It is also their 2nd Avant-Garde album. The first half of the record was recorded live at Cambridge University. The second half was record in Yoko's hosptial room while pregant with their 1 st child together, who sadly, was misscarried.
1) Cambridge 1969
This 26 minute track takes up the entire first side. It was recorded live at Cambridge in 1969. It features John playing around with his guitar's feedback with Yoko Ono's howling vocals. This creates an haunting atmosphere. This is the best part of the entire album, and possibly Yoko's best vocal perfomance. John & Yoko are lately joined by a band featuring a saxophone, bass & drums.
2) No Bed for Beatle John
Recorded at Yoko's hopstial room, this is a an accapella piece by John & Yoko, with Yoko taking lead vocals. The lyrics describe the couples current situation, including referances to the Beatles, The Two Virgins cover & other. Yoko's vocals in this piece are awful and are saved by the good lyrics and John's back-up vocals.
3) Baby's Heartbeat
This is the heartbeat of the unborn baby, John Ono Lennon II, who sadly did not get to see the wonders of life. In the distance, chatter from John & Yoko can be heard.
4) Two Minutes Silence
Just as the title says. A two mintue silence in the memory of thhe unborn child.
5)Radio Play
The worst track of the entire record. It features Yoko flickering on and off a radio dial with John making a phonecall in the distance. On the radio, the Beatles song 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' can be heard on the begining off the track, constantly being being switched off & on. This is the final track of the album.
Wrap-up
A very-bad Lennon album, contains only one decent 'track'. Only for Avant-Garde fans & Hardcore Lennon fans.
