I think he can be aptly described as the Elivis of the 80's; He peaked in the 80's, then steadily declined for the rest of his life, with a few hits into the 90's. Basically, everything new and/or revolutionary that he could do, has/had already been done.

I've never been a fan of Michael Jackson, but there's no doubt he was a pop legend and will be missed by a lot of people.
I was wondering what would happen to the Beatles songs he owned the rights to, but it seems that Sony will be keeping control of them.

It was shocking news. And a real shame considering he was planning quite the comeback for this year.

i found it to be very sad news, i was a michael jackson fan when i was younger, i even went to see him at wembley stadium in london, he was amazing. he was my idol at the time and i actually saw him. it was because of michael jackson im now a John lennon fanatic, at the end of the moonwalker video jackson covers "Come together" and that started off my obsession with Lennon

I must say that although I have never considered myself as a fan of Michael Jackson and I lost some of my respect towards him after I knew all the stuff about the Beatles music catalogue, I felt this as sad news. I recognize that he was a real inspiration to the world of Pop music and was a great dancer. I feel sorry because of his kids too. A friend that actually hated him told me that what's the matter if they're going to have tons of money. My answer? Money Can't Buy You Love. Poor kids! There were only a couple of songs from him I like, such "You're Not Alone", "Heal The World" and "Ben". And yes, his cover of "Come Together" rocks! RIP Michael.

Michael was a great entertainer and always spread the message of peace. The only problem I have with all this is that his career seems to have been built on the strength of one album, great album though it was for anyone who has heard thriller recently I don't think it has aged all that well. it's high point is of course that Paul is on it. Despite his lack of out put though he will be missed I think. Death forgives all sins.

I was predicting something unexpected happening this year, like I do every year & the death of Michael Jackson is a huge one. From I Want You Back to Thriller is how, I'll always remember him, when I was young. He lost it completely, right after that & never regained it, as an artist at all. I doubt if he was gonna do those shows in England anyway, because of too much pressure & whether he could actually pull it off. MJ should have let McCartney keep his songs, instead of the cheap shot, that it was, but that was the beginning of the end.

I've always been a HUGE fan of MJ. My mom grew up with him, my sister grew up with him, and I grew up with him. I've always loved him as a person and an entertainer. Even though it's been almost 6 months since his death, I still cry. Rest in peace Michael.

I'm still sad. It was his music that opened my eyes (ears? haha) to more styles of music than what I'd grown up with.
I'll miss him greatly.

MJ was probably the greatest entertainer ever - please forgive me for saying this on John's forum John was more of an artist than entertainer. I don't think he has ever really identified with being an entertainer, so I hope I will be forgiven MJ smashed all the records that he could. I definitely can't agree with those who say that he had only one good album. Please check sellings of his other albums. Off the wall, thriller, bad, dangerous - not to mention his early solo albums and - of course - his unforgettable cooperation with his brothers in Jacksons 5 or the Jacksons... but the really moving part for me was him being a loving himan being. You should have seen the response he got in Eastern European countries when he got here. I mean he was the first big pop star that ever gone to Poland! Before him... only Rolling Stones in 1967... !! He came here and has been very respectful and loving to people who'd just gone through the communism. You know, in a way he changed this country. He made people believe in themselves. I know it might be quite hard to understand, but it is for real. He has been the ambassador of the change ---> change for better. And there was also the other side of MJ - very human and vulnerable side of him. And this is probably what made people fell in love with him the most <3 I love MJ and I miss him a lot. i will just say - this world is a very different place since 25th of June 2009... Ough... sorry for this long post. I just needed to put it out of my system... And btw. - do you know this one? : 'Michael Jackson isn't pushing his feet backwards when moonwalking, he's pushing the Earth forward'

Michael Jackson was always a great entertainer, and I love quite a few of his songs. Alot of people remember him as the "child molester," and I think that's wrong. I don't believe he did those things to that kid, I think the kid just wanted to get publicity and to humiliate Michael Jackson. I myself will remember him as the great musician he was. Still the thought that his death could have been a stunt to allow him to relax into a private life still tugs at me. I know, it's stupid, but think about it; his body was awefully deflated. However, I would readily believe his death was mainly due to a drug overdose. No offence to Michael Jackson fans, by the way. He was a great guy.
