I wouldn't say I was a huge Elvis fan but I always enjoy his songs when I hear them.

Because of the anniversary of his death, there has been a lot of footage on the TV in Australia of Elvis in his prime. I am sure it has probably been the same around the world, it has been good seeing it, it is rather like meeting an old friend you haven't seen in years.

I like Elvis, my parents are fans so I sort of grew up listening to him.

I don't listen to Elvis much myself, but I agree with you. It can't be denied he had a huge influence on music (and culture in general) and without him the Beatles might not have existed.

I think that Elvis was a great musician and his voice was amazingly great. My favorite songs are "Love Me Tender", "Heartbreak Hotel" and "I Want You, I Need You". But personally, I will never agree with the way he threated the boys when they visited America

I also think Elvis was better in the pre-army years
it's like what John Lennon said,"Elvis really died when he joined the army. That's where they killed him.The rest was just a living death."

wow, how wrong can 2 people be, in the last 2 posts the 1st post; i dont like how elvis treated, 'our boys when they came to america' in what way did elvis treat the beatles in a bad way, pmsl ;D when the beatles made there 1st appearence on the ed sullivan show, they got a telegram sent 'by elvis and the conolel, that they wished them the best of luck in the u.s.a. as for the second post ;D ;D elvis lived a living death the actull quote was, 'ELVIS DIED WHEN HE ENTERED THE ARMY' which imo, is obviously wrong

A cynic once wrote that the Beatles only got the telegram from the colonel and that Elvis was unaware of its existence. Apparently the colonel wanted to get in on the Beatles Success as well.

Honestly,i don't like how Elvis tried to deport the Beatles form America when John said that comment about The Beatles being more popular than jesus.

My mom was/is a huge Elvis fan, and it's due to that fact that I grew up Loving Oldies and Listen to the Beatles now. I always liked Elvis, but was never a huge fan like my mom. I think I'm starting to like him more though. My favorite songs of his are "Heartbreak Hotel" ,"That's alright,Mama" ,"Little Sister" and of course "Viva Las Vegas".

I definitely love Elvis. Growing up, I always had a weird discrimination against him. I think it was because I had heard "Blue Christmas" so many times and I hated it...and assumed all of his songs sounded like that... but a little over a year ago, I was listening to a 50s station, and songs like "Jailhouse Rock" and "Burnin' Love" and "Don't be Cruel" came on...and I really loved it. And then I got a book about him to read, and the inside cover had that famous quote from John about how before Elvis there was nothing. And I was pretty much sold then. And I have been a fan ever since.

I never admired too much, I'm probably the only one, but I don't care, I am who I am. I like his 50's classics, a few in the 60's like Marie's Her Name & Burning Love/Promised Land from the seventies. I believe he would have been alive much longer, had he stopped touring, after his Aloha From Hawaii concert special. He was crazy accusing the Beatles of being a bad influence on the young people talking to Nixon.
