How many tribute songs can you think of that were written for John Lennon? I know Irma mentioned one by a Dutch band in another thread, but I haven't heard that one. My favourites are Paul's "Here Today" and George's "All Those Years Ago". I also like "Empty Garden" by Elton John.

Yes, that was sad. I'm glad you translated the lyrics because I would never have understood them.

Thanks, I'll have to check those out. I haven't heard of most of them. Are there any more?

I so won't listen most of them It'd make me only very sad... Maybe later, when I accept the fact he's dead (I admit... I do not.. not yet)

If anyone out there knows any better please don't be too hard on me. I have no idea if this song was written about Chapman and the murder of Lennon but read the lyrics and see if you agree. The timing was perfect as it was released in 1981. The band were THE HUMAN LEAGUE and the track was called SECONDS:
All day hiding from the sun waiting for the golden one waiting for your fame after the parade has gone
Outside was a happy place every face had a smile like the golden face for a second
Your knuckles white as your fingers curled a shot that was heard around the world for a second
It took seconds of your time to take his life it took seconds
Love and Peace - Peace and Love

I know it was minly for George but during the recording of 'Never Without You' in a interview Ringo said it was also a song of his friends that had died including John.

The song "Imagine Me There" by Ringo is also a song for John. When the curtains move In breezes unexpected Don't you worry You well always be protected. Imagine me there When you see the dancing shadows In the moonlight You will alaways have my love To make it alright. Imagine me there Let the dawn break Without heartache All our lives Imagine Never lonely Dream and I'll be By your side Imagine Trust in love and love is everywhere Imagine me there. When the next room Feels as far away as China You can always know, for sure My love will find you. Imagine me there... Sometimes life can be A fragile occupation When I think myself in frantic situations I imagine you there So imagine me there Imagine me there. Course, Ringo made a reference to that beautiful song by John

I don't think I've heard that song before. Which album can I find it on? I like the lyrics - thanks for posting them, Paola.

This is not actually a tribute song, but "Ballrooms of Mars" by T. Rex has the line "John Lennon knows your name and I've seen his".
