In our local book shop they are selling Imagine This by Julia Baird for a ridiculously low price of $7.99. Has anyone read it yet and is it any good? I am going to get it anyway but I thought I would poll you all and see what you thought about it.

I bought Imagine This soon after it was published and I thought it was a good book. I didn't really feel I'd learned anything new from it, but it was interesting to read about John's childhood and family from a different perspective than in most other biographies. I would recommend it, particularly if you don't have to pay full price for it. Definitely worth reading.

I've read it and I agree with what Jean said. I thought it gave an honest picture of what John's life was like as a child. One thing that came across quite strongly is how much Julia seemed to dislike Aunt Mimi. There's also lots of information about family members we don't often hear much about. Let us know what you think of it when you've read it!

Well I bought a copy of this book, I am desperately trying to finish Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub so that I can get started on this one. My partner is getting upset because all I have done today is read. Can someone please pop around and explain to her how important it is that I finish this book. Thanks.

Well I have nearly finished Imagine this, as you all said it is a good read although I am cautious of books that paint such a one sided view. What it made me realise though is what a horrible start to life Johns sisters had, largely ignored and disregarded by the rest of the family because her parents were not married. Thankfully we live in more enlightened times.

It always makes me sad reading about the way John and his sisters were treated as children (including Victoria, who was given up for adoption).

I recently found a book at a local bookstore called: "John Lennon: His Life And Legend" by Richard Buskin, and it is very nice because it has many photos I've never seen before, and the pages are done in a way that it looks like old time sort of parchment. It is pretty cool.

There is a new book out, John and Yoko: A New York Love Story. It has some new pictures in there I think, looks good.

It is a terrific book. They are iconic photos, among the finest.
He looks older, but you can still see flashes of that young man in there. Tragic indeed.

I loved 'Lennon Revealed' by Larry Kane and 'Imagine This' by Julia Baird. I'm currently reading 'Lennon' by Ray Coleman and 'Lennon' by Johnny Rogan. The last one is a review of all his songs, including 'The Wedding Album' and such. It's an amazing book. Highly reccomended!
