How has John helped you when you've been feeling depressed or sad about something? It always helps me if I play one of his albums and listen to his lyrics and music.

Same here, I always listen to John or the Beatles music when I feel down and it helps cheer me up for the rest of the day. Of course, there are some songs that would probably make me feel worse, like My Mummy's Dead and some of the other songs on the Plastic Ono Band album - I wouldn't choose to listen to that if I was depressed. But listening to most of his songs puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day.

I know what you mean, but sometimes I find that listening to those 'depressing' songs on Plastic Ono Band etc can be helpful too, the lyrics are sometimes appropriate to what's going on in my life and describe perfectly the way I'm feeling. John is always an inspiration.

Well, I like being depressed and sometimes even angry. But he mostly helps me to laugh at all the trivialities of life. His music/lyrics speak of things which are important and not just words for the sake of singing.

John and The Beatles saved my life. I believe that. Not everyone has a happy childhood, so those years were very sad for me and the joy John and The Beatles gave me has made all the difference. I don't know where I would have ended up without them. I need them yesterday and today and I feel so blessed to have found them.

The Beatles (and John in particular) with their music and humor have helped me get through some hard times in my life. I also find it inspires me to read or watch one of John's interviews and listen to his views on life and the world.

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine yesterday and we got onto the subject of John Lennon. You can imagine my surprise when he stated that he did not like Lennon as he felt Lennon was always a bit of a bully. When I thought about that statement a while I came to the conclusion that he might have been partly right. However it is a good case of a lot of good out weighing a small amount of bad. There was no doubt and it is well documented that Lennon had a troubled private life. I think it all pails into insignificance when weighed up against the amount of good he achieved in his short time on earth. From my own point of view, I discovered Lennon during a large amount of personal turmoil and he helped me to discover an inner calm and peace and more importantly, concern for my fellow man that has continued up to today. Thank you John.

I feel so calm and comfortable when I'm listening to his songs and hearing out his lyrics and reading what he has said. I'm listening to his #9 Dream and I feel very .. I forgot the word.. lol. Happy.. !? ;D Stable inside.. Content.. and I'm Floating..

Of course John was not perfect, but he never pretended to be...he admitted having faults and often spoke about them in interviews and in his song lyrics. That's one of the reasons I admire him so much. I think as he got older he regretted some of the things he had done in the past and was doing his best to put them right.

Well, John was human. I can't stand the people who criticize him saying: << He spoke a lot about love and peace and then he behave as an evil, drunken person >>. Damn it! he was human he obviusly had an evil part in his being!!! Everybody has!

I admire him for the same reasons, it is a special kind of person that can publicly admit his faults.

he admitted having faults and often spoke about them in interviews and in his song lyrics. That's one of the reasons I admire him so much. I didn't mean to hurt you, I'm sorry that I made you cry
I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved
And when I hurt you and cause you pain, darling I promise I won't do it again
I've got a chip on my shoulder that's bigger than my feet, I Can't talk to people that I meetThere are not many songwriters who have as much honesty in their lyrics as John (and i can think of lots of other examples). That's one of the things I love about him too.
