Before I start off, I know I haven't been on here for quite a while. The link to the board was in my mailbox yesterday, so I thought I could just as well visit y'all today! Hehee! Anyway, been sort of busy with school *ahemverydifferentthingsactuallycough* and my lurvely guitar ^^, Just wanted to share a poem I wrote last... thursdaymorning I think it was. Waking up with inspiration is like, the best thing ever (mèh, it's not like I only write poems when I wake up with inspiration xD) It's not really about John or so but still. Oh, and if you got poems, I'd really like to read em *gigglesnort* I think I'm gonna fit it in with some music I wrote a while ago. Har har. I've seen the rainI've seen the rain inside your mind, Your eyes were reflecting your feelings. The hidden pain tucked away so blind, You didn't tell me about it. I've seen the rain inside your mind, The invisible tears were slowly falling. Soaking your inner being, painfully kind, You didn't let me help you with it. And at the thought of the pain you feel, I just would love to help you out. But you just tend to make it so surreal, So I can’t put my fingers on it. For No One - The Beatles

Nice poem, I think it would make a great song if you put it to music. I wish I could write poetry but its just not one of my talents, lol!

Nice to see you all again as well Parents just got a bit annoyed because I spent too much time on my computer, whilst I was playing guitar at the same time as well (can't help it, got a restless nature xD)...

Hi Peeps
Here is a poem I wrote recently - hope you like it:
John the artist played at a pace that didnt slack He was a bold young figure, the leader of the pack Quarried in that Mersey town and crafted into rock Solid from the outset, his band was hard to knock More talent than the many other groups that were around The Beatles got the world to dig their Mersey sound
Apprentice served in Hamburg, playing thru the night The brought a blend of soul with rock in which to delight Helped by Please and Thank You, they even got the toffs Shaking up their jewelry when Royal Variety they did top Touring became much harder with stadiums so packed Screaming fans drowning out the music, every track Long years in the studio, brought the legends to their peak Far eclipsing stones and kinks and others that did seek To occupy that top spot, which had grown so very high None would ever do it, though the cream of bands did try Dropping winston for his ono, he prospered for a while Imagining peace for the world, instant karma made us smile
John the father took five years out to stay home with Sean Baking bread and playing was then his daily norm When at last he had watched the wheels go round Back he came and brought us an album that we found Was to be the last one released before the day he died No one could ever count all the people that then cried
John became a legend, I hope will never fade We always will remember the efforts that he made To bring some sense to politics and an end to war If that was all he'd ever done we could not have asked for more.

Thank you for those kind comments. John was easy to write about of course - inspirational in fact.

Back in the summer of 1968 we were writing poetry in school one day and the following item was my first serious effort in many respects - serious in topic, serious in terms of effort also. Prior to that I had scribbled odd lighthearted items, many of which were in the limerick structure. However, the news had been full of Vietnam that week.........
While not directly related to John, you may feel like me that it connects in other ways.
War
War, war. war What is it all for? Does it bring happiness, Does it bring joy? It gives me much less For I'm a soldier boy
Drafted into conflicts With folk I've never known Right across the planet Some other time zone None of us have interests In the other's needs We're simply hanging on until Some bullet makes us bleed
Patch us up in the MASH Send us home to mum I'd rather do without the dash Over minefields all alone So many buddies splattered Across the field behind Are those that sent us over here Really of sound mind?

Blush! Praise indeed - Thanks! I was reasonably pleased to re-read it and find it had 'held up' as it were, after so many years, having forgotten all but the first verse.

Last December I wrote the following, which contains a reference to you-know-who - so hope that you like this one too.....
For some it's time for Christmas For others it is not Some like the cool of winter While many like it hot
It doesn't matter what you like Just as long as you play fair Don't spoil it for the masses Let them play and laugh and share
The only thing that we all need Is love and that's the truth A little understanding helps Lets try and find the proof
For in a world as crowded As it has become today Some care for others you may find Can go a long long way
Don't presume that all your choices Will not harm some folk far away We cant know for sure the dangers Children come upon in play
A man called John once asked us To imagine all the people, living for today The past has left such evils Isn't it time we blew them all away?

After finding many happy weekend messages in my various mail boxes earlier today I wrote this poem in response and initially posted it to myspace and tagged, but hope that my newer friends here would like to read it too....
The Weekend
Two days coming after five Time to remember why we are alive Search out our friends and show them love If you have your 'bins' now Find those turtle doves
A forty eight hour pass that grants us freedom Use it wisely and go get some real fun The dishes will wait in soak today The dust there on the floor can surely stay We may never have this time to meet again So lets drop the harness and go out to play
A few times each year the two become three Days when we share, when we get to be free Sports and dance and rambling wild Man and woman and many a child Dreams come to meet daylight with me Passions are unleashed for all to see
Hope you miss the jams and the queues Spend the time on what you choose Write and tell later about all the views About what you did to stay amused Share it in your blogs and diaries too Come back home with spirits renewed
