I just realized I still haven't started a thread yet for my second-favourite band, The Kinks! So...who else likes them? What are your favourite songs and albums? I would recommend all their albums between 1965 and 1971 - The Kink Kontroversy, Face to Face, Something Else, The Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire, Lola vs Powerman and the Moneygoround, and Muswell Hillbillies. There are some great songs on all of those albums.
Any other fans here?

I'll hold my hand up - Always have admired Ray's ability to balance comic touches with more serious aspects of life - Dedicated follower Of Fashion, Lola are good examples. His influence on other songwriters is well acknowledged, Damon Alburn being one of the most vocal of those.
Other fave tracks: Sunny Afternoon, Well Respected Man, Plastic Man - Doh - I wish my memory for song titles was better!

Also my 2nd faves! Saw The Kinks 3 times - Manchester and Liverpool.
Plus Ray Davies doing his Storyteller gig at The Philharmonic, L'pool. When having a pint near Manc Appollo, Dave Davies came into the pub 2 hours before the gig.

Huge Kinks fan here. My top 3 albums are Village green Preservation Society, Something Else, and Muswell Hillbillies. I managed to pick up all 3 on vinyl over the past 2 years. I cherish them. Sheer genius.
