I believe Live Peace In Toronto is John's best live performance as a solo artist. The first incarnation of the Plastic Ono Band, with Eric Clapton, Alan White & Klaus Voorman, is his best backing band. Rocking out with great kick butt versions of Blue Suede Shoes, Money, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Yer Blues & Give Peace A Chance. LPIT is one of the great live classic rock albums of all time & it should be recognized as such, 40 years later. I have listened to Yoko's side, only once on the album, back in 81 & the video, a few years later. I do have to say that Lennon looked so cool, with his long hair & beard, wearing his Abbey Road suit, jamming back in 69.

I agree, Live Peace In Toronto is a great live album. I wish John had done more live performances as a solo artist.

It's too bad John never got to do a major tour like McCartney back in the 70's. Most fans think his best concert performance was in 72, but LPIT is Lennon's best rockin performance, no doubt about it.

I prefere John without the facial hair. I never saw Live Peace In Toronto so I can't judge his performance there. I don't mind when he had side burns but I think they were too bushy in the late 60's and 70's.

Live Peace In Toronto should be recognized as one of the great live albums of all time. It should be with other great ones like Get Yer Ya Yas Out, Live At Leeds, Alive, Frampton Comes Alive, Live Bootleg, Double Live Gonzo & Speak Of The Devil. John's kick butt performance with the first incarnation of the Plastic Ono Band is the best.

I think I like that one the most to concert wise, I never thought he put his all into concerts in his later years though. I love John to death so Im not knocking, but after the Beatles stopped touring, the concerts didn't have the same performance level, they seemed kindof slacked, hed be looking at the words off paper etc. I love watching his concerts though, I actually just bought Live Peace in Toronto.

John's live performance in Toronto is much better than the one in NYC & the one he did with Elton John. The first incarnation of the Plastic Ono Band with Clapton, White & Voorman is the best. They sound like they've been playing together for years but it was only on the plane going to the gig. Live Peace In Toronto is Lennon at his rockin finest after the Beatles & he looks so cool as well.

Beatlestone, did you see the tread I started called "Live Peace in Toronto Story" in the working class hero section, it tells a great story about John and the concert from Clapton's autobiography.

I love this album too, it's fantastic. My favourite song is "Don't Worry Kyoko", kewl guitar riff in that! I like the fact that it was unrehearsed, and that the band was literally thrown together and the outcome was great, Live Peace in Toronto Rocks!! ...I like what John says at the end of Cold Turkey! He said "...err, this what we came here for really. I love her!! It's err Give Peace A Chance, so sing along".. Yoko says "Now let's sing.." John interrupts "I've forgotten all those bits inbetween, but I know the chorus so.." John starts strumming, and starts "Eins, zwei, drei, Eins, Zwei, Drei, Vier!"...sings Give Peace A Chance.

I like the guitar in that song too, Clapton made it look like it was awkward to play, and I couldn't stop LMAO when I kept seeing Clapton every so often quickly glanced over at Yoko with a scared look on his face, while she was doing something weird. Like I read in the story, John was self-conscious about the concert because of the little Ricard, Jerry lee Lewis etc. being there, John had so much cocaine he threw up.

I've read Clapton's autobiography lovinlennon & his Toronto gig with John. I was thinking about going to your thread, before I went back to mine, but I will check it out again. The riff in Don't Worry Kyoko rocks even though Yoko's wailing is too much.

What did you think of the book? it was great wasn't it?
I think its funny in the end of video when Yoko's onstage still continuing to wail at the end of the song and they eventually just set there guitars against the amp, after fooling around with them, and all go have a smoke, leaving Yoko.

I loved reading Clapton's autobiography, it was great reading his side & I'm looking forward to reading Life by Keith Richards soon. I've read millions & millions of rock books for over 35 years, it ends with Keith's autobiography, because it goes on forever.
