John Lennon Plastic Ono Band is still the greatest solo album of all time by any former Beatle creatively, musically & artistically 40 years later. It's above all the other solo albums from Paul, George & Ringo, as well as his second masterpiece Imagine, Walls & Bridges & Double Fantasy. JLPOB is John at his rawest as an artist that would make Dylan blush because it's so brutal & honest. I first heard it for the first time, way back in 81, during my late teens & it was everything I knew it would be. The highly overrated Bruce Springsteen couldn't do anything close to this Lennon gem.

It's neck and neck with Imagine, certainly.

Hi John Lennon Plastic Ono Band is a great album, though I have a slight preference for the album Imagine . I'm a huge fan of John, but I also like Bruce Springsteen. Of course he's not as good as John an will never be, but I wouldn't say that he's overrated... I would rather say that Bob Dylan is overrated Snoopy

What an amazing album it is. I always think of it as his 'excersizing the demons' album, of a life spent bottling up emotions or numbing up to releive the pain. He was laying it ALL out for the entire world to see and consume, and to learn from. There's nothing in music thats ever been as truthful.. and bottom line is the melodies on it, though the music and the tracks themselves are so sparce, the melodies and the songs are 1st class completely. It is really beautiful. A feat not to be taken lightly by any artist. 1 in a billion stuff right there.
Band on the Run is a great record. But POB will never be repeated. not like that.
