Hello All,
My first listen through of Plastic Ono Band was when I purchased the vinyl, which to my knowledge was the earlier version of pressings (no listing of songs on the back, only childhood picture of John). It features the live version of Mother (starts with 4 count).
It being one of my favorite albums of all time, a month ago I purchased the 2010 remastered edition, which advertise themselves as John's mixes. I much prefer the album version of Mother which starts it off (funeral bells tolling at the beginning).
The high C's he starts each second phrase with are so, so beautiful and heartbreaking, and absolutely underscore the raw, vulnerable pain he is finally able to express.
What's odd is that when one looks up the album anywhere on the internet, the time listed for track one is 5:36 (album version), and not 4:46 (live). Were there only some LP's issued with the live cut, and then the decision was made to change?
