Chapter Two: High School in Liverpool
I awoke to the smell of coffee and bacon, steaming from downstairs. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, groaning at the light slitting through the blinds. I forced myself up and downstairs to the kitchen.
"Mornin' love." Dad said, putting some warm waffles and bacon on a plate. He set it on the counter happily. Dad was always a chef at heart.
"Thanks." I said, sitting down on a stool and eating. I wasn't very hungry. My stomach felt upside down, and my brain about to explode. The first day of high school was always a dread. Espiacally in a new place.
After breakfeast, I brushed my teeth and thought about what I was to wear. I finally decided on a loose shirt sagging on one side, and some tight jeans. I wanted to impress. That sounds selfish, but I didn't want to show up looking like an American geek. I wanted to look hip, and fresh.
I grabbed my backpack and swung it over my shoulder. "Bye Dad!" I yelled, opening the door. Last night, Dad had told me how to get to school. Luckily, it was within walking distance. I only walked about two blocks. I entered the doors of the hallways, looking at different kids passing. All of them were my age of course. I was glad I wasn't in a mixed school. it would just make everything even more awkward.
I saw a lot of hot guys, staring at me awkwardly. i could tell they knew I wasn't from here. They narrowed their eyes, shrugged, and continued walking. The bell rang, and my heart jumped. I did NOT want to be late. I casually walked into my first period class, trying extremely hard NOT to look nervous.
I plopped down in the back row, as far from the teacher as I could get. I knew for a fact, in all countries, being close to the teacher was NOT good sign. The teacher was obviously late, so the classroom burst out into chat.
I slouched a bit, feeling awkward. I didn't know what to do with myself.
"American bird?" someone said from my left. I whipped my head to see a pretty blonde girl, with blue eyes. SHe had straight, smooth hair, and was wearing a loose tanktop with a British flag on it. She wore high-heeled boots and short jeans.
"Yep." I replied.
"Welcome to Liverpool. I'm Kelsey." she said, offering her hand. I shook it, glad I would have someone to cling to. She seemed the type that knew everything about everything!
"Thanks. How long you been here?"
"Since I was born, really. Have you seen the guys in this school?"
Suddenly, the teacher came in. She was older, with greyish curly hair. She wore high-heels, too much lipstick, and a pink vest with a flower skirt. "Hello class."
The class fell silent, replying with "Hello Mrs. Greenburg."
She sat down at her desk. "Open your textbooks to page-"
Suddenly, the door slammed open. My eyes set on something that would change my life.
A gorgeous boy stood at the door. He had a teddy look. His eyes sparkled in the morning light, his bow lips pressed down. He was tall, and thin. He was gorgeous. I gulped, feeling my heart pound loudly. His chestnut hair shone in the light. I tried to keep myself from gocking. He was the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. I already was falling for him.
"John, you're late." the teacher groaned, standing back up.
"I know, hunny." he replied, running his hand through his hair. The class chuckled under their breathes.
"Don't take that tone with me, Lennon. Sit down." she demanded, pointing to the desk diaganol from mine. I suddenly forgot how to breathe.
He nonchalantly sat down, slouching and yawning. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I glanced at Kelsey, who was doodling something. She seemed not to notice him very much. Class continued, but I wasn't paying much attention. I wanted to know more about this boy. I had figured his name was John Lennon. He wasn't paying much attention either. He was writing something down, chuckling at it. He looked up around the classroom for a moment. He suddenly looked straight into my eyes, his gaze locked on mine. My heart stopped. His eyes examined me carefully. He turned back when the teacher slapped her hand on her desk.
"CLASS! Wake up! The bell is about to ring, so prepare to leave. You are dismissed." she said, sitting down at her desk.
I packed up my stuff, and met Kelsey at the door.
"Who was that..?" I said, trying not to sound obsessive.
"Who?"
"That kid that walked in late..." I said, looking at him. He was packing up his stuff, talking to some other guy.
"Oh, thats John Lennon. Real teddy, he is. He plays guitar, and I think he has a band. Forgot the name." she said. "Come on, lets go to 2nd period." she motioned, leaving. I took one last look at him and followed her out. What a guy.
