I'm not really a Bob Dylan fan but I can appreciate what a great lyricist he is and the influence he's had on music (including the Beatles). I do like a lot of his songs...my favourite at the moment is Tangled Up In Blue.

I totally agree with you Nowheregirl, Bob Dylan is a great lyricist and he had a great influence on rock music (especially the Beatles). But even when I like some of his songs I can't seem to get used to his voice tone.

Famous for other people making his songs hits, he is a great artist and well worth a listen. My favourite albums of Bobs that I have are the Bootleg series volumes one to three. There are some great demos and live tracks, fully recommended to anyone that is a bit more than a casual fan. I also recently got the Byrds first album "Mr Tambourine Man" another one I recommend, the Byrds of course probably had more success with Dylan songs than anyone else.

I discover that one of John's many Pseudonyms was Fred Zimmerman, so maybe it was about him and not Dylan that he is refering in the song.
There is a list of others of his names I will post it in a new thread.

With 'God', I think Lennon was trying to say that he doesn't believe in anything else, except himself. Even though he does. It is just that it is all down to you. That is the way to be.
As for Dylan, I'm not a fan. He has had an influence on the industry though.

He is great. I have just watched 'Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid',, he played the part of 'Alias' in that film.

A brilliant singer, he is. I like how he focused on his music and not his looks.

I like Bob, although I'm not really into his music. I aknowledge he's a great musician and he was good friends with John, but apart from that, I don't know much about him.

My parents really like him, and I've just recently learned to like Bob... Yes, he is a great artist, but I don't like so much the one he's become now, I liked him when he was younger. Beautiful the movie about him, 'I Am Not Here'.
