"Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see. It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out. It doesn't matter much to me." It's always been Strawberry fields for me. It's always been one of my favourites too. "No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low, That is you can't, you know, tune in but it's all right, That is I think it's not too bad."

Although I only got into the Beatles twenty years ago Strawberry Fields has always been my favourite song. I heard it on the TV on something or other when I was quite young, would have been 6 or 7, it has always stuck with me, I just didn't know anything about "Beetles", what are they?

I also like listening to all the early takes of the song, and hearing how it developed from the first demos he recorded in Spain through to the final version. By the way, you 'only' got into the Beatles twenty years ago? That's ten years longer than me.

I was listening to Imagine John Lennon, the soundtrack yesterday after reading about it in a post and Don't Let Me Down came on. I also love the lines: "I'm in love for the first time, don't you know it gonna last, it's a love that lasts forever, it's a love that has no past."

There are places I'll remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places had their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more
from 'In my life'
In my life is my fave Beatles song and I find just beautiful.
Also my other fave song . Imagine
Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one

In My Life is one of my faves too. The lyrics are so deep, it's hard to believe he was only 25 at the time.

I have put several posts in this subject but I don't think there are any rules on the number of John Lennon Lyrics you can be in love with (are there?) If so I'm about to break it. What about this:
Oh my love for the first time in my life My eyes are wide open Oh my lover for the first time in my life My eyes can see
I see the wind, oh I see the trees Everything is clear in my heart I see the clouds, oh I see the sky Everything is clear in our world
Oh my love for the first time in my life My mind is wide open Oh my lover for the first time in my life My mind can feel
I feel the sorrow, oh I feel the dreams Everything is clear in my heart I feel life, oh I feel love Everything is clear in our world

Sometimes the simple ones are the best. Love is real, real is love, Love is feeling, feeling love, Love is wanting to be loved. Love is touch, touch is love, Love is reaching, reaching love, Love is asking to be loved. Love is you, You and me, Love is knowing, We can be. Love is free, free is love, Love is living, living love, Love is needing to be loved

I've been across the water now so many times I've seen the one eyed witchdoctor leading the blind And still you ask me do I love you, what you say, what you say Everytime I put my finger on it, it slips away
From Nobody Loves You (When You're Down And Out)

Bless You, even seperation is beautiful when John puts it in words and music.
Bless you wherever you are Windswept child on a shooting star Restless Spirits depart Still we're deep in each other's hearts
Some people say it's over Now that we spread our wings But we know better darling The hollow ring is only last year's echo
Bless you whoever you are Holding her now Be warm and kind hearted And remember though love is strange Now and forever our love will remain

Absolutely love those lyrics Also... There's nothing you can know that isn't known Nothing you can see that isn't shown There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be It's easy Just great ;D

You know, I love John Lennon's use of nonsense language in his music. It's not only fun, but it's absolute genius. It takes a lot of imagination and skill to write that material.
And if you still think it's absolutely pointless, confusing garbage, that just proves a good song is still a good song. It proves that if the song is performed well, everything else will come with it. People still jive to I Am The Walrus without hesitation.
People may say, what did that song ever mean? What was that all about? Well, to some they don't make sense, but amazingly, they make a ton of sense to me.
Look at Dig A Pony. It's how the song is sung, and the vibe it gives off. Around all the heartfeltly sung nonsense language, it all comes down to "all I want is you, and everything's got to be like you want it to". I tell you what, when I listen to the song, I feel that.
Nonsense language is pure John Lennon.
