Please rate each track out of 10 (where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest)
1. Imagine - 10 2. Crippled Inside - 10 3. Jealous Guy - 10 4. It's So Hard - 8 5. I Don't Want To Be A Soldier - 7 6. Give Me Some Truth - 10 7. Oh My Love - 10 8. How Do You Sleep? - 10 9. How - 10 10. Oh Yoko - 9
Which song(s) do you like best? This is one of those albums where I can't choose a favourite song. I think Jealous Guy and Oh My Love are two of the most beautiful songs John ever wrote. How is another of my favourites because of the lyrics, and of course I love Imagine.
Which song(s) do you like least? I don't dislike it, but I Don't Want To Be A Soldier is the only track I sometimes skip on this album.
How many stars would you give this album (where * is the lowest and ***** is the highest)? *****
Other comments about this album: Imagine and Plastic Ono Band are my two favourite John Lennon albums. I find it hard to decide which I like best, as they have a very different feel to them. Imagine is full of beautiful melodies and great lyrics, and there are no songs on the album that I don't like.

I have been busy reviewing some of John's lesser works, I guess I should have a crack at what I consider to be John's best solo release. A year after The John Lennon / Plastic Ono band album John released Imagine, it was everything P.O.B was not. A lot of people claimed that Lennon sold out with Imagine but I think Lennon had ten great tunes, he was at the top of his game and he wanted to make the best job of it that he could. If Lennon had found this form during the Beatles years there would have been little or no room at all for the songs of the other three. What a start to the album, it opens with the title track, after the fade out of Imagine there is no let up, Crippled Inside, Jealous Guy, It's so Hard and I don't want to be a soldier follow, all different, but all fantastic. The production was slick with credits going to John, Yoko and Phil Spector. Gimme some truth has a swipe at Tricky Dicky (Nixon) and his cohorts but then Lennon switches tack totally, with one of the best ballads ever written, the Beautiful Oh My Love. Switching tack again (you get the impression of a roller coaster) Lennon next has a go at his "Former Fiancee" McCartney in the uncompromising "How do you Sleep." Lennon later claimed that he didn't go around with these thoughts in his head all the time (the only thing you done was yesterday) but he used his anger at McCartney to write a good tune. One thing McCartney learned when he had a dig at Lennon in Too Many people (Ram) was that if you were going to take the bull by the horns, make sure you got a good grip. The last two tracks were a bit more sedate, the lovely "How" and lastly his ode to Yoko with support vocals from none other than the very uncomfortable looking Spector. (watch imagine the movie to see what I mean, he looks like he would rather be on the other side of the mixing desk) 1. Imagine (10) 2. Crippled Inside (9) 3. Jealous Guy (9) 4. It's So Hard (8) 5. I Don't Want To Be A Soldier (7) 6. Give Me Some Truth (8) 7. Oh My Love (9) 8. How Do You Sleep? (7) 9. How (8) 10. Oh Yoko (7) There are so many class songs on this release, impossible to list just one as it is a cracking listen from start to finish, the same for picking a least favourite track, hence the reason I have deliberately not scored any track lower than a 7. Stars: what else ***** 5 stars. Imagine the clouds driping, dig a hole in your garden to put them in - Yoko '63. (From the cover of Imagine)

Which song(s) do you like least? How Do You Sleep? It's is not exactly the song, it is that it's sad to know all what happened between John and Paul.
How many stars would you give this album? *****
Other comments about this album: I think that it's like John's Sixtine Chapel. Really! It's my fave album of John. A wonderful lesson by John for the world.

The second equally important Lennon album is usually considered inferior to Plastic Ono Band, and I'll have to guess why. So, my first guess is as follows: while the latter is still spoken of as an 'underproduced' wonder ('how can such a great effect be achieved with such minimum arrangements?'), the former is unquestionably much more complex in the musical sense. So what? Damn the arrangements, the songs on here are totally and unashamedly great! Well, with one annoying exception: the closing 'Oh Yoko' is the first in a series of Yokosongs. Anyway, the melody sure sounds great in this one. In fact, 'Oh, Yoko' is such an innocent and lovable tune... Apart from that, you get your average classic in the title track. I've been thinking of some cunning ways to find a fault in this song so that I wouldn't have to mention it as the best song on the album and would look very smart, but all I could think about was saying that it's saccharine and openly commercial. And if I'd say so, I'd end up looking like a complete dork instead of looking smart(I'm just kidding ;D) So I can't help it. So.. in fact, this is the best song on the album. And the best song ever written. How can a man,a musician reflect his conception of world in a song?In 1 (!) song?(!) Lennon managed to do so.One thing's for sure, though: there's much more to this album than just 'Imagine'. There's a couple more gentle sincere sad ballads in 'Jealous Guy' (if it's John excusing himself before Yoko, then it's the first in a series of 'apologetics' songs culminating in 'Aisumasen'; however, this one's a much better song) and 'Oh My Love'; and 'How' is an unusually gentle philosophical song along the lines of 'Look At Me'. A couple of retro numbers (the great guitar/piano shuffle of 'Crippled Inside', the hard rockin' guitar/mighty brass swing of 'It's So Hard') cook nicely, too. Some of 'em people like to despise 'It's So Hard', for reasons unknown. C'mon people! What can be cuter than the lyrics 'You gotta live, you gotta love, you gotta do something, you gotta shove. But it's so hard, it's really hard, sometimes I feel like going down.' I like that stuff! 'I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier' - this is the only track which features a 'wall-of-sound' on the whole album (I'm beginning to think that it was really easy not to have Phil messing around with your music. You only had to come up to him and say: 'Phil! Just don't you mess around with my music'. And he wouldn't), but it's OK: John clearly wanted to have a really menacing song to himself, and, perhaps, it works: the echoey boomy drums, the threatening guitars that go in and out again, the waves of brass in the solo breaks, and John's scary lyrics also rushing like waves, all of this produces a really unique effect. But it's not one of my favourites after all. Angry foaming-at-the-mouth classics also include: 'Give Me Some Truth' with some of John's most politicized lyrics up-to-date and a frantic George Harrison lead break; and 'How Do You Sleep' with some of John's most anti-McCartneycized lyrics up-to-date... and a frantic George Harrison lead break. The lyrics hit Paul straight in the eye, so that he even had to hastily pen some kind of answer in 'Dear Friend'. I don't know how exactly Paul slept before hearing that song, but it sure could disturb his sleep after its release! Good ol' John! That kind of treatment towards an old friend! Aaaarggh. The melody, though, is extremely hooky. Just listen to that riff that he plays during the refrain, you'll get my drift. 1. Imagine - 10 2. Crippled Inside - 8 3. Jealous Guy - 9 4. It's So Hard - 8 5. I Don't Want To Be A Soldier - 7 6. Give Me Some Truth - 8 7. Oh My Love - 9.5 (Sorry ) 8. How Do You Sleep? - 9 9. How - 9 10. Oh Yoko - 7 I'd give 5 stars to this album after all - *****5 stars.....The album contains 2 ballads which are extremely strong - Jealous Guy and Oh My Love. The latter is my favourite ballad ... I've ever heard in my life.... So IMAGINE,OF COURSE, JEALOUS GUY and OH MY LOVE are my favourite songs here. ... The song I like least is I Don't Want To Be A Soldier.

Please rate each track out of 10 (where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest)
1. Imagine -- 10 (there's no number high enough for this one though) 2. Crippled Inside -- 10 3. Jealous Guy -- 9 4. It's So Hard -- 8 5. I Don't Want To Be A Soldier -- 7 6. Give Me Some Truth -- 10 7. Oh My Love -- 10 8. How Do You Sleep? -- 9 9. How -- 10 10. Oh Yoko -- 8
Which song(s) do you like best? I love "Imagine." I think most Lennon fans would agree that this pretty much sums up his vision for peace and love in the world...and it's totally beautiful. My other favorite is "Oh My Love." I think it is one of the most romantic and sweet love songs that I have ever heard. And there is something about the melody of it that I find completely soothing and mellow.
Which song(s) do you like least?
"I Don't Want to be a Soldier." I think this song makes a really good, important statement, but it drags on a little bit too much for me.
How many stars would you give this album (where * is the lowest and ***** is the highest)? *****, definitely Other comments about this album: Love, Love, LOVE... it's basically fabulous from start to end.
