I saw this post on news/politics site "The Huffington Post", where the author claims that Yoko Ono is whoring out "Imagine" for whatever price is offered, since it apparently is in Ben Stein's new creationist movie "Expelled", which argues that creationism should be taught in science class. See here: www.huffingtonpost.com/james-boyce/yoko-ono-sells-out-john-l_b_96527.htmlNow, here's the background - Ben Stein and some big money guys made this documentary stating that creationism should be taught alongside evolution in science class. It goes to theatres this Friday, and in all the screenings (which were used to sell the film to theater owners, so they were indirectly a source of revenue) there is a ton of music that they most likely don't have permission to use (it's very expensive to use "Imagine", and "These Things I Have Done" by The Killers (the "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" song), and it's more likely that they are exploiting this music in this grey area and will remove it for the final version. Anyways, maybe the author of this blog post is right and Yoko Ono did sell the song cheap to someone who cropped out the line "imagine no religion" and synced it up to a cause that John Lennon would've never supported (teaching religion in science class) - I think it's more likely that they are stealing this music - I think we all agree that we should find out, no?

Hmm...well, I read the article but I don't really know enough about this movie to comment. It does seem inappropriate to use Imagine. We should wait to see if the song is in the final version, like you suggested.

This is from the Wall Street Journal: Having ruffled feathers in the scientific community, the filmmakers behind a documentary questioning evolution theory have now incurred the wrath of one of the most powerful figures in the popular music business, Yoko Ono, and have generated a blogosphere mini-drama in the process. The flap concerns the film's use of the song "Imagine," by the late John Lennon. Bloggers had accused Ms. Ono, Mr. Lennon's wife, of selling out by licensing the song to the filmmakers. In fact, her lawyers say, she never granted permission for its use.

This article has been updated. He apologises for saying that Mrs. Lennon was involved in the use of the song.
I just thought I should post this to keep you up-to-date.

Yeah, that's why I said we should wait until we had more information about this. Sometimes people are too quick to blame Yoko for everything. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7364333.stm
