Lately I've been reading every John Lennon and Beatles book I can. I have a lot of conflicting thoughts on Yoko. My most recently read book was by John's sister Julia Baird. I loved this book and feel that Yoko was pretty rude to the family. I've always felt that John loved her so thats all that matters, but I'm beginning to think she was very manipulative , even with John. Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on this.

My copy of the book by Julia Baird arrived yesterday, I'm going to start reading it next Sunday, so at the moment I can't make a judgement about what Julia writes about Yoko. My opinion about Yoko, at the moment, is the same as you, I think she didn't act that good towards John's family, probably she wanted to preserve herself and Sean from all sort of requests concerning John's financial heritage. I admire her for some reasons, expecially for the way she's been able to carry on with her life and Sean' after John's death, but I'm starting to think all this LOVE she's preaching about all the time is not at all so sincere. bets

The thing is that nobody can have a stable opinion on Yoko. I mean, some people say she was manipulative, others say she was like a guardian angel to John. Their marriage is still very controversial, but nobody can really say how she is for sure. Well, I like her, but she is a human being, right? She must have her flaws, as we all do. I'm not saying that I disagree or agree with your opinions, but I'm somewhat neutral on my opinion about her.

I think she was quite manipulative with John, but she have many good things also. I dont think she is totally sincere though, for some reason I can trust her completely. But as onolennon said she was human as same as us. Julia Baird is not the only one that has talk about Yoko, and it wouldn't be the last one. my opinion is that I think she is more to meet the eye.

That's an interesting opinion, Mrs. O'Boogie. I believe that she is more than meets to the eye, but I guess we cannot expect her to be as open as John was about his life and personality.

Just because she can be rude and doesn't get on with everyone, it doesn't mean she is not sincere about world peace.

Actually, Yoko is a military experiment that went wrong. She is one part napalm and one part a-bomb. Personally, I think she has a lot of faults but she seems OK and seems less annoying than Cynthia Lennon, oddly enough.

I like Yoko, though I don't agree with some of the things she has said and done. But I think whether we like Yoko (and Cynthia) or not, they both deserve some respect because after all, they were the women John loved and who he had chosen to marry. Like onolennon I try to stay neutral. I don't love Yoko and I don't hate her.

hahaha very funny Alan! ;D
I do not hate Yoko, neither think she is a witch or ugly as many people use to say. (actually I'm one of the few persons that say she is a pretty woman)
Everybody deserves respect, Yoko or Cynthia. But even when I admire her a lot for many reasons are other things I don't agree with her and that is OK because we all are entitled to our opinions and I do not patronize or idealize her or any other human being in this word, not even my beloved Lennon. That is why I can be impartial about Yoko, I saw her as a human being.
The things that John's family say about her were true and we all here know it. Is sad to believe that some one like her did so many uncool things to others, that give us some mixed feelings , I know it because I feel them too. But we are not the ones to judge even when our prejudices some times lead us to do it. I believe that both Yoko and Cynthia were important influences in John's life, love influences, inspiration in many ways we would never are going to understand completely, some times they influenced him for good some times for evil. That is the way it is for every person on earth.
I'm sure theres a lot of good things Yoko did that nobody sees, she unfortunately has the curse to been seen only for the "bad" things and that is not fair. She has done a lot for world Peace and she will still supporting what she believes. I do not hate her and I do not find Cynthia annoying either, I think they both are great strong intelligent women and both were great wifes and mothers both loved John in their own special ways. I think this is more complicated than just the simple things we see in the news or that we can read in a book. We have to see with our heart and understand that they weren't perfect gods they are persons like all of us with virtues and defects...

I'd like to make a correction about what I've previously written about Yoko.... by translating my thought from Italian to English, I made a gross mistake that probably have made others reading it, misunderstanding the sense. I wanted to say "... but I'm starting to think all the LOVE she's preaching about is not completely sincere", meaning that sometimes it looks like (to me) sort of excuse for self-promotion. I like Yoko anyway, I'm convinced John needed a woman like her, his creativity took the highest levels with her by his side, and I even like how she raised Sean, having seen the results. Sorry if my previous posting have been misunderstood. Oh, I've started reading Julia's book, I'm already caught by it, I can feel the pain of these little girls and their brother. Pretty touching.
