I've always found these two albums similar for some reason. I always struggle to find which one I prefer, it's a constant toss-up.
I've set up a poll to see what you guys think.
I know Revolver is significantly more important experimentation wise and in terms of the band's evolution, but I find myself liking Rubber Soul a bit more. I like the energy and enthusiasm.
While John did well on Revolver, I like his songs on Rubber Soul more, 'Norweigan Wood (This Bird Has Flown)' 'Nowhere Man', 'In My Life', and 'Girl'.

I always find it hard to choose between those two albums. At the moment I prefer Rubber Soul but it really depends on my mood. While John did well on Revolver, I like his songs on Rubber Soul more, 'Norweigan Wood (This Bird Has Flown)' 'Nowhere Man', 'In My Life', and 'Girl'. Those songs are the reason I love Rubber Soul so much. I like John's songs on Revolver too, but I consider the four you mentioned to be some of his best work with the Beatles.

Because TNK and Im only Sleeping are so sublime,Johns Revolver contributions better his Rubber Soul songs.Having said that,Norweigen Wood and Nowhere man often do it for me.And then theres,Rain. Not on Revolver, but equal to anything on there.

Rubber Soul from my point of view is the beginning of a new phase from the boys in what they start showing their writing abilities with songs more complicated than the boy meet girl, boy lose girl ones that we have seen in previous albums. We definitely could notice the influence of Bob Dylan's suggestions and Its very clear in the songs of this album that either John and Paul wanted to be take more seriously as songwriters and musicians. They are introducing a new stile without losing the enthusiasm and energy that characterize the band. My favorite songs are:Drive My Car Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) You Won't See Me Nowhere Man The Word Girl In My Life Wait Revolver is my favorite Beatles album ever! I love the music, the lyrics as well as the art of the cover. As an artist I think that Klaus Voormann represented each one of the boys perfectly well and he captured their expressions and personalities in his drawing. The art didn't need to have any color to be attracting. The drawings itself is complicated and simple all in one and the collage of the pictures completes that scratch book sensation that makes you feel like if you were watching the very artist’s sketch pad. For me this album is the one that shows the final stage in the musical transition of the classic clean image of the mop top Beatles to the experimentation and revolution of sound and ideas that it would come on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and eventually in the White Album. This is also the last album in which the track listings between the British and American versions were different. I prefer the UK version because Capitol omitted “I'm Only Sleeping”, “Doctor Robert” and “And Your Bird Can Sing” since they had already been issued on the US only Album Yesterday And Today. My favorite songs of the album are:I'm Only Sleeping Here, There and Everywhere She Said, She Said Good Day Sunshine And Your Bird Can Sing Got to Get You into My Life Tomorrow Never Knows

I voted for Revolver, because I consider it to be, the Beatles ultimate psychedelic masterpiece. Tomorrow Never Knows is one of John's gems, that define the times, along with his other psychedelic classics. For No One is creatively, musically, artistically & lyrically Paul's finest moment on the album. Taxman is George at his best, with a great guitar solo & proves he was on the same level as Lennon & McCartney.
