www.thaindian.com/newsportal/entertainment/john-lennon-once-dreamt-of-playing-for-liverpool_100182458.htmlLate Beatles member John Lennon is said to have been a very talented footballer, with dreams of playing for English football club Liverpool. Pete Best, 67, who was the band's original drummer before being replaced by Ringo Starr in 1962, revealed how Lennon always had a ball at his feet before the band rose to fame, and how they used to have a kickabout. "John had the best skills in the band. He could play a little bit, to be fair," the Daily Star quoted him as saying. "We were always kicking a ball around when time allowed, like any youngsters. "We dreamed of playing for the big clubs," he added. As The Beatles began to find fame, manager Brian Epstein advised them not to pledge allegiance to either Liverpool or Everton for fear of dividing fans.

Cool. I didn't really see John to be the sporting type, but there you go.

Cool. I didn't really see John to be the sporting type, but there you go. I was surprised by that too. I didn't think any of the Beatles had much interest in sport.

I didn't think John was the kind of person to be interested in sports either. Now we know what he would have done if The Beatles hadn't made it big.
