Yes folks it is that time of year again. It doesn't matter if you're a student, teacher/professor, parent, whoever it is either exciting or upsetting (from mild to extreme). I for one am very excited ;D but that's because I'm a gigantic nerd that loves school....I am an Ed Major and plus I FINALLY have my first placement! I get to be with a first grade class once a week and well get to do other teacherly things (yes I know teacherly is not a word lol) How does everyone else feel about all of this school business?

Well, I've finished with school now, luckily for me because I didn't like it much. But it's great that you've got your placement! It should be fun working with a first grade class.

Well, my senior year I worked with a first grade class so it's been like 2 years since my last contact w/a class and I'm super excited. But, my first graders were hysterical, especially when they gave me my Christmas present. They got me my Abbey Road t-shirt (well my mentor/their teacher bought it) and when I showed them they were excited and I said, "do you know who these guys are?" One of my kids pipped up and said "Presedents?!" I just laughed and told them that it was The Beatles and they looked at me funny I thought to myself "they're not presedents, but they're pretty damn close."

Yeah, it's great. A bit tiring at first, but you get the way to fit into it. It's nice to see your friends again after a long time. I am happy because all the nice teachers at my school stayed there, only one that I don't want at all (Chemistry and Physics) stayed :* but anyway, I think this will be a good year

I am a teacher. I teach Title 1 reading to 2nd graders and a few groups of 1st graders this year. I really LOVE my job. I work with small groups of kids for about 40 minutues a time. It is a lot of fun (most of the time) but summer is also a lot of fun, and even though I was ready to get back to work, I still hate getting up early.

Okay so I my "Macca" professor told us where he was from today.....Bolton in Lancashire. Not quite sure where that is so I guess I should pull out the atlas!

Lancashire is a county in the same neck of the woods as Liverpool hence the similarity in dialect. My geography is not the best but I thought Liverpool was actually in Lancashire, maybe someone else can confirm or deny that rumour.

This is from Wikipedia. "Previously a part of administrative Lancashire, created in 1888, and more recently as a county borough in itself, Liverpool became in 1974 a metropolitan district within the newly created metropolitan county of Merseyside, but still remains part of the ancient County Palatine of Lancashire for cultural and historic purposes."
