Some hateful people I know say this about John: << When John Lennon talked about peace he just wanted to make money because he never gave up something which means a lot to him for peace >> I think it's a lie!!! He did fight a lot for peace and lived (sorry i don't know another term..i'm italian!) so many public humiliation such as the critics he took by journalist during the bed in. What do you think?

Well, I agree with you. Of course he really believed in peace. I remember in the Imagine film the cartoonist Al Capp said he thought John just wanted the money, and John replied that he could write a song in an hour and make more money than by sitting in bed talking about peace.

I draw the line at this sort of comment, there was no doubt that Lennon started out to make money, what young man starting a career doesn't. But I have no doubt that Lennon set about attaining Peace for no other reason than the sake of Peace. I would love to see any evidence to support the claims that he made money from the peace movement.

It's a campaign for PEACE by JOHN LENNON, a campaign that is continued today by Yoko.

Indeed, it is the message. Not who says it.

Hey if you all remember in Imagine John was talking about how Him and Yoko had to pay to put up all of those Billboards and flyers and rallies, they were not cashing in they were dishing out. and as for if he was a true peace advocate, the answer is undoubtedly YES! Johnny boy had enough money from the Beatles and if he were still alive it would last him his whole life. and i have never seen him in Armani so i think money was the last thing on his mind.

He knew that they were going to print stories on him, so why not let them be about something important and worthwhile, instead of the trash we get today?
He was smart with this.
He gave a message of world peace, while others gave a message of how dumb or trashy they are (yes, Paris Hilton and these young fools of today.)

John's campaign for peace was a life commitment , the war is over posters were all over the world and he pay for them even when he doesn't receive anything for that. They even turned their honeymoon in to a Peace project, that is admirable. John in spite all his money always was a humble person and he lived very simply. He got money and use it for a cause he believe in.
