www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DkfeL2Rt8cThis cover of a 1962 b-side by a group called Dr Feelgood and The Interns was originally included on the British released Beatles For Sale because it was so popular among the 'beat' groups of the era. The Beatles played it regularly in Hamburg years before they recorded it. The Hollies released their version at the same time. The Beatles were apparently big fans of 'The Doctor'. Despite the song's dubious reputation, John Lennon's fevered vocal performance is considered one of his absolute best, surprising even he on the recorded outtakes.

I've always liked the Beatles version of Mr Moonlight, even though a lot of people consider it to be their worst song. John's vocal is so powerful, especially the intro - it's definitely one of his best.
Thanks for the link, jr.

I don't like the song itself very much but as you have both said, John's vocal is stunning. I have heard the cover by The Hollies and also the one by The Merseybeats and I didn't like either of those versions - because they didn't have John. Anyway, thanks for posting the Dr Feelgood version.
