Just found this forum last night...am a huge Beatles fan, have read dozens of books about them as a group and individually. Right now I am waiting for the book by John's sister, Julia, I just ordered it this week. I am from NY, now living in NM, USA.

I ordered "The Private John Lennon" and really hoping it arrives today or tomorrow. Did not know she had written two books, will have to look that up, not sure how I missed it.
Thanks

I read it Sat. and Sunday. For the most part I enjoyed it but it made me kind of sad too. It doesn't seem as though Julia knew much more about John than others who have written about him, in some ways. And I don't know what to think of Aunt Mimi anymore...was she as bad as Julia believes or somewhere in between, just wanting the best for John? No way to ever really know. It's sad that John lost touch with his sisters for such long periods of time, did not even let them know when he moved to NY and then let Yoko become his call screener to the extent that he ended up losing touch altogether with his family. And also a shame that he neglected to get the houses he bought for his family secured for them, but I am sure he thought he would have more time. Overall it just kind of made me sad...seems as though Julia's entire life was affected by how she perceives her mother to have been treated. I hope she is happy now.
