ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5j58FUIi9CvfQmJtV50Xn1WNCY0ywThe Beatles' song Across the Universe will be the first ever to be beamed directly into space next week, Nasa said. Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney said it was an "amazing" achievement and John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono called it the "beginning of a new age". The transmission of the song over the space agency's Deep Space Network on Monday will mark the 40th anniversary of the day the band recorded the song.

I saw this article in my local newspaper today. There's a little more information on it.
The song is being sent to Polaris which is 2.5 quadrillion miles away. It will take 431 years to reach its destination.
Paul also says says to "send my love to the aliens."

It's a nice idea but unfortunately I'll probably be asleep by that time.

From www.imaginepeace.comYoko Ono on 'Across The Universe' (2008): I have a very strong feeling that John arranged this. He was concerned that all of us of this planet were sticking our heads in the sand, and not seeing what is really happening in the big picture. What is really happening is beautiful. Thank you, John, for a reminder. Bless you. Love, yoko Yoko Ono 4 February 2008
