This is one of my favourite poems by John. It was published in the December 1965 issue of McCall's magazine, and wasn't available anywhere else. I had never seen it until last year when I found it on the blog 'Snoupi's Saloon'. "The Toy Boy" by John Lennon

Thank you for the link to this poem, nowheregirl. I remember reading it several years ago but hadn’t seen it again since. "He was an artiste, so you see - He didn't like to chime for free!" That's very true, isn’t it?

I'm glad somebody else likes that poem, Jean. I was so excited when I found it - I'd been looking everywhere!

Oh this poem was the one that motivates me to buy John's books. I love this poem and the visual images that brings to my mind when I read it. This are two of my favorites lines: "call this meeting to a close. All in favor—raise their nose. We'll take a vote!" "Unfair, unfair!" the Toys all said. "Shoes and Hats have got no head!" "How can they vote, I ask you now?”

I enjoyed reading the poem. At least if The Beatles had been a one hit wonder, Lennon would have had something to fall back on. Art and poetry. His drawing were weird but I like them.

'All in all, it goes to show How stupid can you be?' '"I don't care what you say to me. I've been on his foot, you see?"' 'Who felt he was the one who knew. He probably was.' Brilliant.

I think it's one of John's best poems. I'm glad you all like it too.

John was simply the best at writing poems. Just think of the ones on 'A Spaniard In The Works' and 'In His Own Write'! He was really talented.
