When John Lennon relaunched his career in 1980 with Double Fantasy (after taking five years out to spend time with his son Sean), he began planning a world tour for 1981. Unfortunately, of course, the tour never happened, but this article discusses some possible songs he might have included in the concerts. One World, One People Apparently John was hoping to do new versions of Beatles songs like "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand", and he also wanted one of the concerts to be broadcast live around the world by satellite. Which songs would you like to have seen John perform on his tour? (You can choose any Beatles songs or anything from his solo career).

This is interesting to think about, though it makes me very sad that for obvious reasons John was never able to go on that tour. I would love to have had the chance to see him live. As for which songs he could have performed, I think Imagine would have been a definite, maybe as an encore? He would certainly have done some songs from Double Fantasy – (Just Like) Starting Over and Woman would have been his most recent singles - and perhaps he would have taken the opportunity to perform some new songs for the first time.
It would have been wonderful to hear those rearranged versions of early Beatles songs and I think he may also have included Strawberry Fields Forever (he always rated it as one of his best songs). A live acoustic version would have been beautiful. All You Need Is Love would have been a good one to finish with.

That's just one more reason I feel so sad thinking about what happened to John. I know it's selfish to get upset about all the music we didn't get to hear, compared to what John's family and friends must feel, but I can't help it. John had so many plans for the future and never got to carry any of them out.

I've been thinking about my answer, and this is what I came up with:
(Just Like) Starting Over - had been a single the year before and is the obvious song to start with I'm Stepping Out - another recent up-tempo song Jealous Guy - I would love to have heard a live version Whatever Gets You Through The Night - because it was a #1 hit a few years earlier Walking On Thin Ice - this would have been Yoko's latest single I'm Losing You - I think this would have worked well with a live band Strawberry Fields Forever - on his own with an acoustic guitar, as Jean said, it would be amazing Stand By Me - I wanted to include a track from the Rock and Roll album and this is one of the only ones I can imagine him singing in 1981 Grow Old With Me - time for another ballad Woman - would have been another recent single Hard Times Are Over - he would probably have given Yoko at least one more song and this would fit in with the general theme of the concert I Want To Hold Your Hand - John himself said he wanted to include this and possibly "She Loves You" One World, One People - everyone could sing along to this "Give Peace A Chance"-type anthem to end the concert Imagine (for the encore)
There were lots of others I wanted to include...Instant Karma, Love, Watching The Wheels, Help!, Across The Universe - but I had to stop somewhere!

Don't Let Me Down, the song that means the world to me 'cause it got me into the Beatles (And it's beautiful) Oh, I love Don't Let Me Down too. It's one of my (many) favourite Beatles songs. Actually, I would have been happy with whatever songs John had chosen to perform. I really wish I could have seen him in concert.

I wonder how often John would have toured if he had lived? My guess would be not very often. I can't imagine he would have been as active as Paul. It's obvious that Paul still loves performing live.

If I remember correctly, Elton John said Lennon was extremely nervous playing live. But the crowd would get his confidence back when they cheered for him, etc. I think he would have still played live, but not as often.

Anything would have been good. I would have loved to hear Starting Over in particular, to open the concert. It would be so fitting and it would have sounded amazing live.

It's difficult, but I'd like to hear songs like All my loving, You're gonna lose that girl,Baby's in black or my all time favourite In my life and I'm sure he would've done Yesterday since it was one of his favourites. I ask myself every day why I must've been born that late, it would have been so nice to go to a Beatles concert or to meet John Lennon...
