I'd ask John to stay in the limo and tell Chapman to get rid of the gun Exactly, sounds reasonable to me.

I will grab the gun from MDC and shoot him instead . I will rather stay in jail because of killing that would-be murderer than to see him in jail.. ALIVE. I will like to see MDC DEAD!!!

No one jump on me for this, because I dislike MDC as much as anyone ..... BUT do you really think John would want you to kill him? I agree, what he did was wrong as wrong can be. I hate the man. But John was a peaceful person, he didn't want violence. Believe me, I understand how you feel. And I know you're saying, you'd kill MDC so he couldn't kill John. But wouldn't it have been better if no one was killed and MDC got locked up? Or, I don't know. I just don't think it's what John would want, even if it meant saving his own life. But then maybe I'm wrong. I agree with you applescruff John is a peaceful person and wouldn't want someone to murder MDC to save his own life. John and Yoko believed in not killing whats so ever.

I might casually stroll passed MDC and then turn around and... knock him out with a block of wood.

I agree with you applescruff John is a peaceful person and wouldn't want someone to murder MDC to save his own life. John and Yoko believed in not killing whats so ever. Thanks. I think about this subject a lot. There are many things a person could go, if given the choice to stop it. I just don't think killing is the answer for anything. I'm not defending MDC - but it's obvious he is very sick in the head. I believe he should be locked up for the rest of his life. He needs help. However, I do not feel sorry for him. The only people I feel bad for are Julian and Sean, and John for having his life taken so suddenly. It doesn't seem fair. The thing that kills me is that John was SO nice to that psycho. I agree. He was a sick person and deserves to rot in jail for the rest of his life. I don't know if theres any helping him. It also kills me the John was such a good person and gave him an autograph. He could of just ignored him but he didn't. What a horrible way to repay someone.

Nobody knew MDC was that kind of fan until John was killed later that night. The best thing he could have done, at the time, was not go to the studio & return later with the punk waiting for him. The picture of Lennon signing the autograph, for the punk, before he was murdered, is disturbing in its own way.

I have thought of this many times in my head, going through the scenario, and I know it sounds stupid, but I always run through my head about going back in time with news articles, movies etc showing him the proof that he was going to be killed and then think of a plan to protect him. Maybe its because I wasn't born until 1988 He would obviously have to move somewhere obscure that MDC couldn't find him, because if he could, the same issue would result. I honestly believe that telling the police would do nothing, especially in a city as big as NY, don't you think they get calls all the time from ppl saying they "believe" someone is going to do something criminal, there's no way they follow everyone's suspicions, you would have to have a decent amount of concrete proof, which seems easier now, but thats because its been exposed to us in documentaries and so on, detailing the leading events.
I agree that he wouldn't want us to kill anyone for him, even if there was solid proof that this was going to happen.

I think about this sometimes, but everytime I do I start to cry. If it was possible for me to go back in time to save John, I would warn him of what is about to happen. I'd make sure to get him somewhere safe, but if that didn't work I'd move him quickly somehow so when the scum(you know who) would pull that trigger John wouldn't get shot.

There are several ideas ive had: 1) Inform the guard at the door in the afternoon, that i had overheard the pig in the corner muttering about shooting John and that i had seen him rubbing his hand against a gun in his pocket. Not sure what would of happened, but in my head, the guard would of reported this to the police and the police come question and remove him from the scene. 2) I would of worn a bullet proof vest. the pig shot John repeatedly through the chest, so i figure i along with John would be safe if i crash tackled john to the ground at the right time. Or i would tackle the pig to the ground moments before he shot john, i would of held him down and kicked the gun away. In this scenario, John acknowledges that i saved his life, we become good friends and i decide to stay in that time to continue the friendship.
3) i would of taken a gun, not shoot him myself. but sneakily put it against his back tell him to keep his mouth shut. i would of taken him into wilderness outside the city and ordered him to kill his worthless self then the legend that was Lennon
but i most likely would do 2.....

I agree with what a lot of people are saying... Killing another can never be justified. A non-violent approach is the way to go. Perhaps I'd have trained in jiu jitsu long before and been able to disarm Mark. I would have also told John and Yoko to run... just get away from him until I had him pinned and ready for the police. Speaking of jiu jitsu, I'm starting next week. A non-violent martial art sounds about right for me.

I wouldn't.
It's not only stupid, but also foolish and arrogant you can actually think you're capable or preventing such a thing, and think it shouldn't have been prevented. It was fate, it happened and it made his opinion, characteristics and humor eternal.

After all, we all know time travel doesn't exist, so it's not really to be taken seriously.
