Okay, at first, this was "What Would've Prevented John's Death" I didn't really wanna go into that, so now.... being more imaginative .. If you were to go back in time, before John Lennon's would-be murder..... What would you forewarn John to do? Or maybe Yoko to do? Or what were things you think would protect him from .. what would happen ..... This subject came across the Beatles Chatrooms I have been in. Maybe, bodyguards, I would say. Someone said that, like Paul, he should've lived in a more secluded area.. Someone else said that he would have taken those shots instead. What do you think?

Well, I don't know but if I could have the oportunity of being there knowing what was happenning, is sure that I would try to do something . Maybe I could do one from the following options:
* Tell to the guard where was that beast and what did he want to do and catch him before he accomplished everything.
* Keep John apart from the Dakota for that night
* Just when the beast (you know who I am talking about) comes out, run and push John to the floor, so the bullets don't hurt him
* Tell it all to Yoko
And this one, only for brave ones (maybe I would do it, but I don't know)
* Run, stay right behind John and recieve the bullets instead of him.
The last one is really dangerous, I know, but it stills being a possibility.

Well, that's a subject I don't really like to think about too much, but... I know John didn't want to have bodyguards - he liked to have the freedom to walk around the streets on his own like everyone else and to stop to talk to people that he met. It would have been more sensible for him to have bodyguards but he wouldn't have been happy. I'm not sure that even living in a building with more security would have helped - look at what happened to George in his own home. I think maybe if John had come back to England or another country where there are tighter controls on guns, it might not have happened (though maybe it still would have done...who knows?) - but of course you should be able to live wherever you want without something like that happening to you. If I had the chance to try to save him, like Paola says, I'd keep him away from the Dakota that night and tell somebody (Yoko, or the police - I don't know who) what was going to happen and hope they'd believe me. Sorry, I'm not very imaginative.

Why not just... Go to Hawaii or wherever MDC lived, and kill him there with the gun whom was supposed to be used to kill John and kill MDC or at least let him suffer & say it to the police so they could get him to say he was gunna kill John or so :S

I'd ask John to stay in the limo and tell Chapman to get rid of the gun

I would have kept John away from the Dakota building until I thought it would be safe for him to go home.

i have thought of this, to be honest.. many times before and i have many options i would have taken. here r just a few:
- firstly warn the police about the possible assassination of john - make sure john has some sort of 'look out' or something to make sure no one suspicious goes near him (not really a body guard coz that would raise suspision and may be unconfortable for john) - go up to john and yoko myself and pre-warn them of a possible assassination so they r more aware of wat may happen. - and if worst comes to worst... i reacon if i were there and chapman was anywhere near i would jump or move in the way of john so he doesnt get hit with any bullets. OR knock john and yoko out of the way on the ground or to some cover somewhere.
u can tell ive had much thought over this..

That's what I would do, then he would live, and... you know who... would still be in prison.

or maybe I'd kill MDC, and i'd still cry, just at the thought of someone doing that to him. I don't like to think about it.

Firstly, I'd go back to 66 and make sure John never met Yoko. I know it sounds mean.. but would he even have lived in New York if it weren't for her?
Anyway.. I'd have made sure he'd never met her.. become his friend, and cynthia's friend. Make sure they stay together, help them move to scotland. And go to see them each christmas and look at John Lennon's Scrapbook of his crazy life with him.
That's what I'd do.

I would have waited, until the next day, to go the studio & I would have told the guard, at the Dakota, no fans allowed after 5 p.m. John probably would be alive today, if he wouldn't have left that night, to record Yoko's track I believe & sign the fateful autograph.
