The Cyrkle were the band who were the opening act at the Beatles concerts on their 1966 US tour. I read that John Lennon was rumored to have given them their name 'The Cyrkle'. Does anyone know if that's true?

Yes I've heard about that, though I don't know if it's true or not - but the spelling is very John-like, I suppose. I know it was John who added the 'J' to Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas and he is also usually credited with the spelling of Beatles (though it was probably Stuart Sutcliffe who originally suggested Beetles). Maybe John could have had a career thinking of names for bands.

I believe the Cyrkle were managed by Brian Epstein who discovered them after they were recommended by his friend Nat Weiss (I think that was his name) you are torturing my memory here.

Ok, thanks for the replies! And yes, Brian Epstein was the Cyrkle's manager. I like their song "Red Rubber Ball".

Red Rubber ball has always been one of my fave songs! I never heard that John had anything to do with The Cyrckle's naming though.
