No, I've never met him. I wish I had, but unfortunately I was born too late. Though if I had met him (or any of the Beatles) I probably wouldn't have been able to speak!

No, I was born too late. I was only 9 going on 10 when he was killed. I read somewhere he made fun of people with disabilities so he probably wouldn't have felt comfortable around me since I'm disabled.

He stated in an interview that he would take a long time coming to terms with how he treated women. If you look at his illustrations a lot of them are of people with disabilities and deformed features. This in no way lessens his importance, it in fact shows that he was human with human feelings and prejudice, mainly though he wanted the best for mankind and the world we live in. I think a lot of Lennons problems with the disabled came about as they were shoved at him after gigs as if he could cure them all, like he was some kind of messiah. I am sure you can understand his loathing of that situation, it would get depressing after a while, not due to anything other than the fact that he could do nothing to help. Lennon is still a great man despite these short comings, I am sure he would be okay being around you Taylor as his enlightenment and liberation from olde worlde view points were complete by the time he died.

You have a good point there. After all, he was human and he had his share of prejudices like everyone else.

I completely agreed with our dear friend Nocturnal quadruped. John was a great human being, but as we have discussed so many times in this forum John was human with virtues and defects, we shouldn't idealize him, but is a great thing that he grew wiser in many aspect of his life and manage to overcome his prejudices and his ways to treat women. About meeting him I was born too late also, I was 8 when he died so it was impossible at least in this life...I wish I had, but unfortunately time betrayed me. I use to imagine my reaction if I had met him and I think I probably would be very nervous to speak to him, mostly because he was very intelligent and I would be afraid to embarrass myself in front of him.

I was twelve when John died, although I was not aware of what he had done in his life at that tiime it was hard not to notice how important he was to people, the airwaves were inundated, the news was constant and shortly after top of the pops was playing the Imagine video in the number one spot.

I would have loved to meet him. To those who did meet or see him, they would never forget the moment.
He would have been so energetic and fun. In all his interviews he is just so quirky. He was a very serious person who could engage in passionate rants, but he would have lapses where he would imitate people's voices and so on. I remember interviewers having to say 'Ok, serious now, John.' ;D

I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. Albert Einstein Reality leaves a lot to the imagination. John Lennon Dreams are the fuel of your mind Ivka so, never stop dreaming. Imagine!
