Yeah, I was used to that cover of Jealous Guy *scratches back of head* . Somehow it's way more often on the radio then John's version. Ah well, it's great. (I think that's the reason why we forgot about it)

I just bought a copy of David Bowies Young Americans. This was the release that John worked on in 1974 with Fame and Bowies interesting version of Across the Universe. John plays guitar on this track and they left out the Jai Guru Deva Om lines..... maybe Bowie felt it wasn't for him, they did a great version anyway.

I don't think I've heard it...but then I don't listen to Michael Jackson very often. Is it good? I've heard Aerosmith do Come Together but I didn't like it much.

Well... I've got some friends among MJ fans. They persuade me that this is a great cover,u know... But,IMHO,''Come Together'' is another JL song which is almost impossible to cover in a perfect way,u know... It is so authentic and original.Especially after 2nd chorus - till the end of the song. But in general , i guess this cover isn't worse than any other one, by Elton John or Tina Turner, for instance,is it?

Yes, I've heard lots of covers that are worse than that. Nobody can sing Come Together like John Lennon, though.

I remember when Jackson released "Come Together." I don't think it was that well recieved as he was allowing The Beatles music to be used for TV ads and he was getting a lot of negative publicity for it. However in fairness to Jackson he did alright and his cover was as good as any.

nocturnalquadruped, - I completely agree with you on this point. ... And may be,somebody has listened to the cover of ''Come Together'' made by The Servant (Indie-rock/Electronic band)? It is so short! (only about 2 minutes) ... For my part , I dislike it.

I've done some.. and um, they didn't turn out too well. Ahh, maybe this post should belong in a John tribute thread.. Okay, I can't really think of any cover versions. ~there's dust in my mind~

And what about this - www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpqKA9_ddFkOne of the most awful covers I've ever heard... ...By the way,I'm sure you all or almost all have the disk ''Instant Karma - The Campaign to save Darfur''.... What about the cover of Instant Karma by Tokio Hotel?... No comments.... Bill has performed this great song in the way that all the primal esthetic values of it have gone,IMHO. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eght2pdzTA

I was also surprised that some of the bigger bands like U2 came off worse than some of the lesser known acts. Over all not a bad listen, in my opinion though Green Day steal the show with their version of Working Class Hero. (I am not a Green Day fan but credit where it's due)

I found a copy of Tin Machines first album (David Bowies band from the late eighties) and found a rather good version of Working Class Hero on it. I wonder what Lennons most covered song would be as everyone seems to have a crack at that one?

I can't stand these cover versions of his songs.
I know it is a tribute to him, but I just prefer the originals. They can't be bettered.
U2 did a good job on Instant Karma though.
