I bought Double Fantasy hours before he was killed, at a K-Mart in Port Coquitlam
I never had a chance to slit the plastic open when I heard he was dead.
To this day I have an un opened vinyl copy of Double Fantasy
Of course I did buy another copy

I found Goodnight Vienna and Back To The Egg in much the same way, they are great to own in different formats they have such a different feel to the plain old CD we have all come to know and love.

I wonder how long it will be before CDs start disappearing as well, and the only way we can buy music is by downloading it online.

To be honest, I hate that idea Nowheregirl I don't like downloading music from the net, and IF I do, it's pretty much always because I got the album/song (on vinyl) or that I want to buy it.

I also hate that idea, but I'm sure it's going to happen eventually, sometime in the not too distant future.

Regarding CD,s disapearing Could happen, sales are way down everywhere. One main reason is being forced to pay 15 dollars for a CD that has 2,3 good songs on it I have rarely bought a CD for about 6 years now, since I got hooked onto the internet and discovered Napster back then There is not a song ever made, old, and recent releases that are not available for free on the internet. I have ripped may of my older stuff from vinyl, and yes even cassetts and have made it available for free on the internet. Some people say it is stealing.Well no.First of all the music industry execs have been stealing from the musicians since the beggining of time And now to have a re united Police charging up to 200 dollars a ticket in Vancouver, to play an hour and of half worth of 80,s songs, some that sound very dated, is a classic example of the musicians stealing from the fans The pay for music downloads available like on I Tunes are also a scam as they dont come in an MP3 format and turning an M4P file into an MP3 which can be played on anything, like in your car, your DVD player etc.( unlike an M4P) is not so easy to do If CD,s dissapear, its only the fault of the music industry themselves

The thing about records, is every time you play it the grooves get deeper and it sounds better. And if a CD is scratched, it's defective. The only thing about records is that you can't change from track to track, but on my White album there are very thin lines where the songs end and start

I think we all got duped into buying the line that CDs are superior, for some reason we all went along with it and now we are purchasing things of no substance at all online. I have to agree with monkey99 that the greed of the music industry is largely responsible for it's own demise. Power To The People.

I don't think AT ALL that the CDs are superiour. They're just smaller so they take less space (just as turntables). For me, LPs sound better then CDs, indeed. I don't mind the cracks you can hear on the LPs, it gives the records identity. When I'm listening an LP I get much more the vibe of ''I'm listening great music!'' then when I'm listening CDs. Probably, because CDs concist of digital information, and LPs analogue. I'd love to live in the fifties/sixties only for that part of music! Happily enough me dad's still got his old turntable ^^ And his old LPs^^ I might ask whether I can have his turntable on my room. It'd be grand! ^^

Some years ago, I found 'Double Fantasy' on a cassette in the basement of my house. I was lucky to find it.
