Yoko strikes me as being very 'Obsessive' and I think that's one of the reasons Why she still lives at the dakota... I mean imagine every time you stepped outside your front door you had to walk past the spot where your husband was shot dead! I know it's not unusal for people to stay living in the place where you shared with a loved one who has died... but it takes a strong mind to be able to cope with something like that! I also think even after 28 years she doesn't want to let go off john, and the memory's she has there. Has anybody seen the film rosemary's baby? about a woman (mia farrow) who gives birth to the devils child I think it's from around 1964? it was filmed in john's apartment years before he lived there, the director actually chose that building because it was said to be cursed!!

Yeah, I have seen the film Rosemary's Baby... and that is a new detail for me I didn't knew that was John's apartment back then. I went to NYC some years ago on 2002 I think and is true she still live there...But well Yoko is a very strong woman, maybe those very memories are the ones that keep her going...

O'boogie I've never been but if I did I'm sure I would feel sad as well when I saw the Dakota. I don't think I could continue living in a building where my husband had been murdered, but I suppose you don't know how you would feel unless it happens to you. Maybe by staying in the Dakota Yoko still feels a connection with John and that's why she doesn't want to leave.

When you are on your way there, you feel at first some kind of emotion some sort of excitement, but once you get to Imagine then you feel this strong sentiment of mourning and grief a sense of lost and sadness beyond any thing else… you feel in the same way that if you were in a graveyard. Here are some pictures I take that day Some images of Central Park eerie atmosphere. i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg140/WilaDragonfly/CentralScan.jpg[/IMG]ImagineStrawberry FieldsA view of the Dakota at the distanceI promise myself that the next time I went to NYC; I will bring him some flowers, a white candle, or perhaps a little box of strawberries… I couldn’t do it last time. And I think as same as you Nowheregirl, Maybe by staying in the Dakota Yoko still feels a connection with John and that's why she doesn't want to leave.

I am very cynical when it comes to Yoko, maybe I shouldn't be, but its as though she wants to keep john all to herself! she never had a funneral for him, his family in england never knew what happened to him or had a chance to say goodbye, he was cremated and his ashes given to her within 48 hrs!!! just makes me very sad when i think about the whole thing... but I think john would have liked to go out with a bang... the fact that he was murdered has only made him more legendary... 'you only get greatness when you die'

Wrong. She did not and still has not. She said she has not ruled out the possibility, but is still strongly hurt.
I do think Lennon would like the irony of what happened. But, who wants to die and so young. Nobody wants to. I cant believe the total shock and horror that was going through his mind when he realised what had just happened, and that indeed he was definantely going to die. The fact that he was murdered made him more legendary, he became an ageless and restless icon.
As for Yoko still living at the Dakota, she must be a very strong woman. I can see why she does though, the building and the apartment is an heirloom that she wouldnt want to sell. It is a part of her being now.

Remaining at the Dakota, could be her way of standing by him. Maybe she looks out her window at Strawberry Fields and thinks of it as his final resting place. It's a powerful place the Imagine marker. I go there whenever I'm in NY to meditate and I've had a profound meditations there, even with all the noise and crowds.

I think Yoko still lives at the Dakota is because she has a lot of happy memories of John there. I think she loved him very much and she still does. The memories are what keeps her there. That's why she will live there the rest of her life. I think she's a very strong woman to be able to walk past the spot where her husband was murdered every day.
