John Lennon Lock Up For AuctionA lock of John Lennon's hair, kept for decades by a hairdresser, is to go under the hammer at an auction house next month. The hair, which is expected to sell for between £2,000 and £3,000, will be part of The Betty Glasgow Collection of Beatles and Film Memorabilia, to be auctioned off by Gorringes in Worthing on December 12th. Accompanying the lock is a note from the late musician, given to Ms Glasgow who worked on The Beatles' films A Hard Day's Night and Help!, reports Bang Media International. "To Betty, lots of love and hair from John Lennon x x," the note says. "It was great fun working with the boys on the films. They were always together in a group and having a laugh," revealed Ms Glasgow. "My job was to keep their hair in order as the film was made over three months, so their trademark, mop-top haircuts had to be regularly trimmed."

What would owning John Lennon's hair actually do for anyone? I find it a bit odd really. What would you do with it?

Well, the thought of owning somebody's hair has never appealed to me, but I bet there are plenty of people who would want to buy it.

Seems like a bit of an odd thing to want to own to me as well.

I suppose it would be a laugh to be able to say, "I have John Lennon's hair" to people, but other than that, I think it would be a waste of money. I'd much rather own one of his guitars or some hand-written lyrics. But hair?!

Well, the hair called "John Lennon's hair" could belong in reality to any other person

The auction is taking place tomorrow. I found another article about it: John Lennon's hair goes up for auctionLONDON (AP) - A lock of John Lennon's hair is up for auction, just in time for Christmas. The longtime hairdresser to the Beatles is auctioning off several keepsakes in southern England tomorrow, including a copy of John Lennon's book, A Spaniard in the Works. The book is dedicated to hairdresser Betty Glasgow, with "Lots of Love and Hair." With a lock of Lennon's hair still inside, the book is expected to fetch more than six thousand dollars. It was Glasow who kept The Beatles' moptops trimmed on the A Hard Days Night and Help film sets. She's selling the items because she says they deserve to be enjoyed, rather than hidden away in a drawer. Other mementos include photos specially dedicated to the hairdresser, including one signed by George "Dandruff" Harrison.

What would owning John Lennon's hair actually do for anyone? I find it a bit odd really. What would you do with it? Well, you could extract the DNA, clone him, and see if he re-incarnates into the clone.

Eeeeewwwww, why would anyone want a lock of John's hair? I would rather have the hand wrtten lyrics to some of his songs than his hair. The next thing you know the person who bought his hair will use the DNA will clone him. Then every conspiracy theorist out there will claim John faked his own death, moved to a secluded town somewhere in America, secretly became an American in January of 1981 and spent nearly 30 years in total seclusion until he re-emerged just like that.

I wonder what they've done with the hair now that they've bought it?
