Where were you when George died? I was at school and a teacher who knew I was a fan said"did you hear the news on George?" I said "no what news is that?" "he died" I was shocked and stunned I'm not really a George fan but was really upset about it. The teacher allowed me to walk out the class and go for a walk around the school. During that day I recived lots of txts saying I'm I alright etc and in the afternoon I wached a tribute programme to him. 2001 was a bad year in June my comedy group The Giggles disbanded, Sept 11tyh then George.

I was in grade 3 at the time, so I was pretty young but I'd heard of the Beatles and I knew all of their names, so when they said it was George Harrison I knew that he was part of them.
I don't really have a 'story' because I was so young but I do remember seeing and hearing a lot about it in the newspapers and on the radio that he had passed away. I seem to remember our teacher even telling us in class about what had happened. As I said I didn't really know who he was other than a Beatle, however I was aware of what had happened and as always when someone passes away I was a bit sad.

I had family visiting at the time, they all knew that I was upset. It seemed so unfair that a man who gave the world so much had to leave us so early. We sat and watched the news pour in from around the world and grieved for George together. It was a quiet day as I remember and despite the fact that George had been ill for a while I was largely in shock at his passing.

November 2001 was a bad month for me because my grandmother died at the beginning of the month and George at the end. I heard the news about George first thing in the morning when I turned the TV on before I went to college. There were one or two other people in my college class who liked George, so I wasn't the only one who was upset. I knew he had cancer and I'd been reading in the newspapers that he probably didn't have long to live, but as nocturnalquadruped says, it was still a shock.

I remember that it wasn't too much after I became a Beatles fan. That morning I woke up and I recieved the news when I was taking my breakfast (course, after it I wasn't able to finish). At first, and as you said, I was in shock. My mom told me that she would pick me up earlier from school, so I could rest (she has always known how important are the Beatles, in this case George, for me). At the moment, and though eveybody knew that George was really ill, I was really sad, but it happened to me like when you don't want to accept the things, but when you find out that they're true, you just can't hold the tears. It was really sad for me, I couldn't stop crying for a few time. A few days later it was when I listened carefully to "All Things Must Pass" and I understood that George is OK, mainly because as some people says, he's not suffering anymore I'll always miss him

I'm thinking of you today George. I can remember when you died, even though I was very young and not a Beatles fan yet. I'm listening to All Things Must Pass right now.

I don't remember the exact moment or anything of when I heard. I remember more vividly when George was stabbed because my Dad had called and told me that someone had murdered George and I thought he had died then. I do remember that the day I learned of George's death was Nov 30, 2001, which was also the very last day of my job in a day care. It was an all around strange day. Family and friends sent me sympathy cards, which was very kind. It seems like it was just yesterday that I learned of George's illness....so it is strange to me that so many of you were so young just 6 years ago.

I vividly remembered that fateful day of November 29,2001 ( I was in the Philippines and one day is passed, It was November 30). My grandmother was recently passed away and it was after her burial when I heard about the news that George Harrison has passed away; I decided to include him on our Nine Day Prayers for the dead and hope they are in the Great Realm..

I read about it on the Internet. I knew he had been sick for a long time and had cancer so I expected it but it was still sad.
