www.express.co.uk/posts/view/31227/Ringo-Beatles-won-t-reform-Ringo Starr last night ruled out any chance of reforming The Beatles with Paul McCartney and the children of the Fab Four. The former Beatles drummer, speaking before last night’s opening ceremony for Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations, was asked about the pair being joined by George Harrison’s son Dhani to play their hits. But Ringo, 67, said: "There is no chance of seeing us getting back together with any of our children, there is no chance of us getting back together. It's very difficult now because two of us have gone." George Harrison died of cancer in 2001 and John Lennon was shot dead in 1980. But Ringo did not rule out the chance of working with Sir Paul in future. He said: "As players there is no reason why we can't get back together but don't get excited about the summer [when McCartney plays in Liverpool], he is on his own." Asked why he was not appearing with Sir Paul during the city’s packed year-long list of events, he insisted it was because their diaries did not allow it. Last night was the first time Ringo – who releases a single, Liverpool 8, on Monday – has played in his home city since 1992 as he kicked off the city’s European Capital of Culture celebrations with two nights of musical entertainment.

I can't see why the Beatles sons would ever want to do something like that anyway. They've spent years working hard to establish themselves in their own music careers, not just to be known as 'George's son' or 'John's son' etc.
Also, if Paul and Ringo got together it wouldn't be the Beatles anyway, it would just be 'Paul and Ringo'.

I agree whole heartedly, why do people insist on getting the Beatles back together again, it would only cheapen everything they did. There was a joke once about how when Ringo died Paul would reform the Beatles and call it Beatle. It was a cheap shot at Paul but I hope it never comes to pass. Let Paul and Ringo play together if they wish and let them tour as Paul and Ringo if they wish but let's keep the name Beatles out of it. Just take their solo works it would still be a great show, can you imagine seeing them perform Band On The Run and Photograph among other great tunes. What a night.

That is sad. Thanks for letting us down, Ringo! (no, just kidding. I could understand). But it would just be nice to see Ringo and Paul jammin' again. Not for the sake of any "reunion" or anythin'.

Any idea of a Beatles reunion died with John Lennon. I would love to see Ringo and Paul work together again in the future. I would also love to see Julian Lennon, James McCartney, Zak Starkey and Dhani Harrison form their own group. Julian and James could colaborate on song writing. Just think, a new Lennon/McCartney songwriting team.

It would have been nice to see Ringo accompany Paul at the Liverpool sound in June but it doesn't look like happening. On a cynical note it would have increased the value of my spare ticket
