Much to my surprise I found a copy of Liverpool 8 in my local music store. They do not normally stock Ringo Starr albums and I have to order them. Maybe my persistent demands for his albums has succeeded and he has decided to get some in. Anyway I have listened to it for the last two days and I am quite pleased with the new release. Maybe not as good as Ringo Rama but better than Choose Love will give you an idea of where this album fits. It has some nice Beatle esque moments and Ringo even manages to get a mention in of "It don't Come easy" on "Gone are the days." I think this has occurred on Ringo's last five or six albums. Maybe Mark Hudson or someone really loves that song. Anyway I think 7 out of 10 is a fair score. Do any of you plan to get this album? I can recommend it.

I haven't bought it yet but I probably will soon. I don't usually have a problem finding Ringo's albums. I like Ringo Rama and I thought Choose Love was okay too so if it's somewhere between those two I'd be happy. Thanks for the recommendation.

Did anyone see Ringo's interview with Jonathan Ross last week? Apparently a lot of people from Liverpool were offended by some of his comments, where he was asked if he missed anything about Liverpool and he laughed and said no, nothing. I think it's just his sense of humour, he was intending it to be a joke but it didn't come across very well. He probably wasn't expecting it to upset anybody. What do you think? www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV1qc6RA2no

Yes, I saw that and I can understand why if you're from Liverpool you might be offended...but he did go on to say he loved Liverpool. I think it was just a joke that some people have over-reacted to. I am sure Ringo must have some good memories of Liverpool.

I saw his interview, and I am from Liverpool and actually had VIP tickets to the capital of culture concert and the after party... I've always thought of RIngo as the 'joker' always having a laugh and having a great sense of humour, and I must admit, I was a bit shocked... he didn't seem like the Ringo we know and love, in fact he seemed quite arrogant, and I think the people of Liverpool including myself, were very dissapointed in him, because to us, it seemed like he was just there to promote his new album, and not for capital of culture at all!

He didn't come across too well in that interview, but he's not usually like that...as you say, he usually seems very down to earth and funny. I also read about him walking off the set of another TV show too. He's having a bad week, isn't he? I hope you enjoyed the capital of culture concert, by the way!

I haven't any comment to add regarding the interview except to say that JR can sometimes throw people of their intended path.........
I bought Liverpool 8 when it sprouted onto the shelves of Morrisons, lol. There may not be any truly outstanding tracks, but taken overall it is an OK album that I will play now and again.

I've bought it. It's a fab record, if you'd ask me. One of his best, I think.
