These are the two 'new' Beatles songs that were released in the 1990s, based on John Lennon's old demos. Which of them do you like best? I prefer Real Love - I think it's a stronger song and closer to John's original version, whereas Free As A Bird was less complete (Paul had to add some of his own lyrics to it). I do like both songs though and I think Paul, George and Ringo did a good job with both. Which is your favourite?

I love both of these songs as well but I actually prefer Free As A Bird. I think that Paul's contribution to the song made it more of a Beatle song than Real Love. Not only but also, George put in a blistering performance for that lead break in the middle of the song. John would have expected nothing less. Brilliant.

I like Free As A Bird more than Real Love but I think they're both good songs. I also prefer the video for Free As A Bird, I remember watching it for the first time and seeing all the Beatle references in it.

I prefer free as a bird. But I prefer the version on "wonsaponatime" of real love than the new free as a bird version

I like both but prefer Real Love. Wen my group reunited and did a tour we played that song and instead of the video we had footage of us in the early days

Totally "Real Love", although I also like "Free as a bird" of course. Yet I've loved "real love" from the moment I've heard it (: ♥

real love was better left alone i think.. it was soo powerful on its own, with lennons mess ups.. its special for me i guess.. but free as a bird re-done by the rest of the boys is like AMAZING!!!!... it makes me cry everytime i hear it.. OMG! i think im gonna start crying again!

Both great (though slated by some at the time) Real Love had already been seen on the Imagine OST in a pared down form and so I agree that the original (on Wonsaponatime) sounds better. Free As a Bird suffers from the weak lead vocal but I remember queuing up at HMV Liverpool at midnight for it and playing it on the way home.

Real Love is my favourite of the two. It is a great piano piece.

That said, I like both. 'Free as a Bird' is exceptional. Lennon's polished rough recording has a ghostly feel to it, making the song even more hauntingly beautiful. It is a really strong, emotional sound with some good lyrics. I agree, the addition of Paul is a neccesary but nice touch. Just watch this. It is tragic. Imagine if this were real. They cut a video to make it look like Lennon is singing 'Free as a Bird' with the rest of the boys. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_YQ9ROp4lE&feature=related
