My parents respect my fan base my Dad & Uncle are huge fans. My friends don't tease me at school they asked me who my fav Beatle was etc at College when I made friends with a girl people in my class knew I was a John fan would say are you two going in a bag for Peace? I'd say Hive Peace A Chance. I actually got banned from doing Beatles/Lennon projects because that's all I do it on.

Since I became a Beatle fan my Mum started taking an interest in my music and has encouraged it by buying me birthday and christmas presents related to the Beatles and John Lennon in particular. She always get's me the official calender each year. She was listening to it play one day and she said rather wistfully and with a sigh, "oh they were great weren't they Mike." I have to agree although she looked like a love sick teenager when she said it. Some of the great presents she has bought me over the years include, a 1967 copy of the magical mystery tour ep in mint condition, complete with the original booklet in the middle. I kissed her for that. My copy of the white album on cd and two limited edition John Lennon plates with art work by Cynthia on them. They are treasured and have not been removed from the box yet as I have nowhere to display them properly. My partner knows it is futile to argue with me when it comes time for a new release and submits with as good a grace as possible as I race off to the nearest music outlet. My brother has participated as well and he got me Pete Bests autograph on an old photo of the Beatles and he also bought me a Yellow Submarine. Have I rambled enough yet? In short they all know I am a Beatle nut.

My parents aren't fans unfortunately so I had to discover the Beatles for myself. My sister likes them, but not as much as I do. The only person in my family who is a big fan is my uncle who was a help to me when I first started listening to the Beatles, lending me some of his albums etc.

Hello My first post proper ....apart from saying hello in the hello thread I loved The Beatles from the first time I heard then on a Granada news programme in the early sixties ..... The sound was like no other at that time and started for me a life long love affair with the lads. I saw them live and yes I was one of those screaming girls you see (no apologies for that ) in the newsreel footage ...my children ...both huge fans as well....say why on earth did you scream ......kids eh what do they know ? I loved lots of other groups of the time but NONE compare with my lovely lads.

Hello Eleanor,
I am too young to have seen the Beatles, but I'm sure that if I had seen them I would have been one of those screaming girls too! ;D

im obsessed with the beatles and espeically john lennon. my grandma loves the beatles, so i guess thats something we have in common and have a bond from that..very tight! my mom likes them as well, but she gets tired of them from time to time and tells me to turn off that 'junk' she also has a least fav beatle.. john lennon my brother(11 months younger) likes the beatles, but likes john more as a solo artist.. i pretty much got him into johnny boy, and he's grown to love him! my friends call me a crazy hippie for being so madly in love with john lennon and make fun of how horrid he looks, and say Ringos better lookin than him they can just shove off! well those are the boy friends of mines.. the girls think pauls the cute one and only him.. they feel bad cause i like john lenon.. they just dont understand what he's done for the people man!! but overall, i dont give a damn what others think! john put that in my head! it doesnt matter what other people think.. its your decision and thats all that matters.. YOU! ohh how i love john man!!!

My dad was the one who got me hooked on the Beatles when I was 11 years old in 2001 when he bought the Beatles 1. I then discovered that he had The Beatles Anthology disc 2 and that got me even more in them. For my Bbirthday in 2002 he bought Let It Be Naked. Those were the last Beatle thing I got from my parents until I got 2 Beatles books this christmas.
My dad was born in 1960, so he didn't really have that 1st hand experience of the Beatles, but he says he does remember that he begged his parents to buy him Let It Be when it first came out because the title track was his favorite song (which is my favorite song too!).
My mom was kind of a Beatles fan, she liked Paul's solo stuff though, I found Band on the Run and Venus And Mars in her record collection.
They have just recently found out that I am actually obsessed with the Beatles, they don't really have a problem with it.
All of my friends and most people in school know that I am a Beatles and John fan. Most of my friends don't mind, and a lot of them like the Beatles.

I was a Lennon solo work fan first.
The Beatles work is the greatest of any band. Lennon. McCartney. Star. Harrison. That lineup is a match made in heaven.
They find it maybe a bit strange that I'm a fan at first, but they now get it. I got it through to them that it is simply good music, regardless of it's age.

I've been a Beatles fan for my entire life. I remember singing 'She Loves You' when I was about 4 years old. I knew who they were and people would stare at me when I started singing their songs. I was just a child, and I knew who they were! I grew up, and so my interest in their music. I found out that the Beatles were perfect!: the right voices, the right melody, the right rhythm! I knew I had found my favourite band. My friends used to tease me, but not anymore. Now they respect me. And so the years were passing, and so my interest in Lennon in particular. I've always found his voice PERFECT, and his struggle for peace really interesting, and I could and can relate to that. He had always been my favourite Beatle, and his wit amazes me. I've always been very sarcastic, and I can relate to his jokes and sayings. I can relate to his 'lovely bitterness'. In the last few years, my love for Lennon's music, especially his solo work has reached proportions I never thought it could reach. I fell in love immediately with his lyrics, with the way he breathes between every word, with the passionate way he sings. So I got to the point when I said 'You know what? I love John Lennon.' And I was right. Today, everybody I know knows I love John Lennon. Everybody respects me, and I'm very grateful. Being able to share my passion for him is amazing. People look straight at me and ask me all sorts of questions about him. And I feel amazingly happy for answering them. I'm not afraid of showing that I'm a Lennon fan. And I feel proud of being that way.

To those who think being a Beatles or Lennon fan is wierd, well I go into a long rant and tell them the following.
1. It is only considered 'outdated' when it has been bettered. So far, 40 years later, it has not been.
2. As soon as any song has been recorded, it is timeless and immortal.
3. Age is irrelevant, it is simply good music. It is real music, clear, good beat and with a postitive message.
4. No one else will ever top them for music achievements or come close to hysteria levels.
5. It will fit into any era, it will not do so only if quality music appreciation drastically changes. That is, being music that is refined, and all that is beautiful and devine.
6. Remove yourself from the voice if it bothers you so much - just treat it for what it is, a sound.
