Which year is your favorite? I mean, in terms of music, songwriting, looks, image, and everything else. Mine would probably be 1966 or 1968. If I had to choose a solo year it would be 1971, which was the year Imagine was released.

I love him in every year...but my favourite is probably 1965. I think he looked great in 1965 (even though he called it his 'fat Elvis period') and I love all his songs on Help! and Rubber Soul. I also agree with 1971.

Well, there was something special about every year (although we don't know much about 1976-1979). I couldn't choose just one favorite. I like 1964, 1965 and 1966 the best.

Because I love the Imagine album so much and because it was so Lennon I would say 1971 would be my favourite Lennon year. For me his look was so iconic at that time as well.

Not a big fan of John in the 70's. Altho I did respect his peace movement. I love John mostly from his youth until about 68.

Yeah, I'm more of a 60s-John fan too. But I do love him in every year of course.

Yeah John in any year is great! Just want to make sure I clear that up, but I love the 60's John with all the other Beatles with him.

I would have to say 1967. I love his work on Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. But I would have to agree that I liked John best in the 60s as a whole and his work with The Beatles. Great topic.

Great topic. 67 isn't my favorite year overall but I agree it was one of his best years as a songwriter. A Day in the Life, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite, I Am the Walrus, All You Need Is Love (and you could also include Strawberry Fields Forever which i know was written in late 66, but released in 67 I think). Those are all such awesome songs and amazing to think they were all within one year.

I like 65-66 as my fav years if I had to isolate it. Rubber Soul and Revolver were just mindblowing!
