I wouldn't even know where to begin. For me, he is simply perfect, despite his imperfections...or maybe because of them!

Well I love him because of his personality, his mind and ideas and his sense of humor. As I have said before I love him with his good and evil. He is both the "yin" (black) and the "yang" (white) the paradigmatic dichotomy of good and evil. He is complicated and simple, witty, funny, outrageous, rude, pervert, gentle, sweet, clown, annoying, jerk, cute, romantic, possessive, jealous and on top of all those things good and evil, stubborn. I Love him because of all that, I love him with his virtues and his demons.

John was, without any doubt, one of the most fantastic people around. He was honest, witty, out spoken and he didn't care about what people thought about him. He always wanted to do 'the right thing', which I think he did with his legacy: not only his music, but also his ideals. I definitely look up to him, and I love him no matter what. John was perfect, and always will be. He was the person who taught people how to think: to think with honesty, with heart, to believe that there are solutions out there. I love his voice, his guitar skills and the lyrics he wrote. Those lines are so perfect, and you can actually relate to the things described.
There is nobody like him.

John is simply... John, that's what I think. He was a peaceful man with an outstanding personality. And nobody can deny that.

I've always liked his Beatles songs. However, I wasn't actually drawn to him until the first time I saw Help in 1988. I've always thought he was just as good looking when he was younger as he was when he got older. I didn't realize how much I love him until I watched some of the sad John Lennon tribute videos which made me cry. I don't like sad videos because they make me cry every time I watch them. I think John would love this forum. When I started listening to his solo stuff, I started to like that too. Paul McCartney started out as my favorite Beatle . Now even though I've always like all the Beatles, John somehow grew on me.

He is still irresistible

I recently discovered The Beatles (a few months ago) and I've always liked John the best. I love his voice and his solo work, his wit, and (of course) his looks .

That's understandable, strawberryfields8 - after all, looks are the first thing you notice in a human - but you'll see that, in the end, his looks will be nothing compared to the outstanding person he was.

I totally agree, onolennon! I was indeed drawn to him at first because he is good-looking (when I first saw pictures of The Beatles). When I first started listening to The Beatles, I didn't know that much about them. I didn't even know their names! ;D But, as I started to learn more about The Beatles as a group and individually, I started to realize how many other things drew me to John. Like I mentioned above, I love his wit and lyrics. I remember when I first listened to "Strawberry Fields Forever," and John sang "It's getting hard to be someone, but it all works out. It doesn't matter much to me," I could just relate to it so well! (kind of off topic, but Strawberry Fields is one of the reasons I love John!)

It looks like we think the same way Strawberry Fields is one of the songs I can most related to: the lyrics, the tune, and of course, John's lead. I've always loved the Beatles, specially John, and I wasn't really sure why. But now I know: I can relate to him, both musically and mentally; my ideals are the same and the wit is similar, to name but a few. And I'm proud of it. One of the other things that drew me to John was the fact that people didn't quite understand him/his thoughts: when I say I believe in peace, people just roll their eyes, just like they did with John. It's really getting hard to be someone, but don't ever give up Imagine!

He was a one off talent and person that only comes around every so often. He can not be replaced, he is unique.

Wow! I've been reading all these so far and tears are in my eyes! You all have such gorgeous insights and have such a passion for John! John Lennon has been in my life since I was a little kid. He has a profound influence on my life, his work being one of the reasons I became so into music and wanted to join a band and play guitar. His music, vision, wit, and personality has amazed and surprised me as I've gradually gotten to know him from reading and growing up hearing his music, and seeing the Beatle movies and documentaries. When I think of John, one of the many things I think of was his great sarcasism. He had the best comebacks in the world at those press conferences back in the 60s! And when he was 'on' and having fun he just beamed at those cameras, such quick charm with an edge! It's hard to describe my feelings about John in words since they are after all feelings and sensations that fill me, not concrete objective ideas. He gives me hope, warmth, and courage. John makes me think about life. He died before I knew who he was, but he has found a place within me, just as he has in millions of people around the world. Thinking about John makes me realize that a person can't be erased. There was so much within John Lennon that couldn't possibly have dissapeared during those few tragic minutes. When December 8th rolls around, no matter what mood I'm in, I'm mainly sad that day. But there is a flame within every person that tragedy and death can never extinguish. The flame lives on, as John's has, and can only grow and become larger. What can I say about John that hasn't already been said a million times before? I would have really liked to have met him, talked with him and shared views. I'm filled with "what if's" and "why's." I'm sad because he's no longer alive, but the beauty of it is, he IS still alive. Our lives are such a short and almost meaningless phase in an enormous plan and I think he knew this. Wherever you are John Lennon, we love you. You touched us all and for that I thank you. We all shine on.
